Commander Units
Why can't leader units be mounted? It seems to me that the king, or prince, or warlord would want a mount so that he can ride around the battlefield and be where the most importat fighting is happening. Or to run away if the enemy starts winning.

It wouldn't work on campaigns, because there are places that you need to go into caves and mountains, and this would ruin the leader's defense and mobility. So it should be in the multiplayer if it should ever be implemented. But that would make unfair for dwarves for example, because they can't ride big horses. And for an outlaw it wouldn't fit, considering their sneaky nature, among other units too. So it shouldn't be implemented in my humble opinion.
On the south guard campaign the leader is a mounted unit by the way, if you didn't know it already.

Deoran, the leader in the South Guard campaign, is mounted. (Incidentally, he dismounts when he enters caves.) But as you acknowledge this in the second half of your post, you seem to be contradicting yourself.King Arthur wrote:It wouldn't work on campaigns, because there are places that you need to go into caves and mountains, and this would ruin the leader's defense and mobility. Any mounted unit can be used as a leader.
Edit: maybe you two are talking about having optional mounts for leader units?
I was going to make a topic but now I dont need to!
I belive, in MP we should be alllowed to use mounted leaders. I want to see a cavalier at lest once in my lifetime after all.

Oh no look out its a ray gun.
You should move to avoid the rays
the rays are coming out of the gun
if you are hit by the rays
you will be shot by the rays
the rays are fast so you should be fast to
can you win against the fast rays from the gun?

I just want traits on my leaders. I can see the problem of a leader that has mobility like no one else, or that it doesn't fit with some units that can be leaders.
That's why i just want traits on my leaders. It add to the uniqueness of them as leaders.

mobility is no problem because they compensate not being able to enter mountains and being easily killed by piercing units PLUS SUPER LOW defence EVEN ON CASTLES AND VILLAGES. if they dont have these (wolf rider) then they usually have low heaslth/ attack anyway.

Maybe you should have the choice of mounted vs. foot slogging commander. I think a mounted commander would make sense for armies that have a cavalry (especially since equestrians have typically had higher social rank historically) Being one of the faster units allows the commander to catch up to his troops once he is done recruiting for example. Or to quickly transfer to a different skirmish. Or to run away. Maybe Dwarves will get only infantry commanders, but that's because they are dwarves, and don't have a cavalry culture anyway. I think human and elf commanders would definetly want horses.

Dwarves aren't a horse riding race anyway, so even if the other races leaders get mounts they were already behind for not having any mounts to begin with. The only real problem with this would be all the extra graphics work it would take. The Dwarves need a better equalizer for the horse thing overall anyway. In some maps they are very handicapped.
