They look great, but I think it'll take at least 2 months to make them for all units. And if they get officially implemented, they'll be at least 15MB (for all units). Oh yeah, I was wondering, what would the Dark Adept-Necromacer-Lich line look like. (Any Ideas Mr. Lutes ?)

Oh, it'll take me a lot longer than that. I've slowed down already because of all the other work I have, but I'll keep plugging away. This is going to be one of those long-term, gradual contributions. I was able to get a bunch done last week because there was a lull in my regular work schedule.martenzo wrote:They look great, but I think it'll take at least 2 months to make them for all units.
Thank you. We appreciate those who make something, but we've been burned before by quite a few people who have started to work on something and never finish it.Jason Lutes wrote:Oh, it'll take me a lot longer than that. If you do finish this, it will be one of the most significant contributions made to this project, and one you are uniquely well-suited to do. It will be greatly appreciated.

And there'd have to be 140-155 (campign only not incl.). I've put that number because I may have some counting mixups, I actually got 151. 151*50=7550(kb).
just didn't know they compressed well.

Got some work done on the Peasant/Spearman line:

Peasant, Spearman

Javelineer

Pikeman, Halbardier

Swordsman, Royal Guard
My main question is, should I take out the visible polearms? They help to differentiate the units, but in actuality the polearms would all be too tall to fit in the portrait, so they look too short.

I'd say, put them vertical, and at the left of the image, facing away from the halberdier, as though their opposite ends were being rested on the ground.
EDIT: Only for the Pikeman and Halberdier. The others look nice with the current setup.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.
I think the peasant should be older. Edit: not Delfador old, but not so juvenile. I know he has to level up into a spearman or bowman but sometimes they are just used (more rightfully I believe) as townsfolk.
If you moved the halberd you could add the green streamer.

Woudn't it be better to start with the campaigns?
I find the portraits submitted up to now to be really good; but wouldn't it be better to have the ones needed for the shipped campaigns first?
For the leaders in the dark hordes, or the Black Eye campaigns, for example. In this way, the artwork would be readily useful.
In any case, keep up the good work!

fixings..
I honestly can't think of any way to lengthen the polearms in your portraits, and unless you can take some creative liberties with the pikeman's appearance, I think they'd have to stay.
Given that, why does the spearman need his weapon shown?
Also, with the swordsman: if the pikeman, the halbardier, and the Royal Guard all have weapons displayed, he might as well too.

I think that one of the main things that distinguishes the royal guard portrait from the swordsman one (regardess of color) is the absence/presence of the sword. It is, IMHO, good how it is.
I think with the pikeman/halberdier portraits, you should show their pikes leaning against their shoulder, with the head of the weapon out of the picture. It would look good, and it is more realistic than the way they hold it in those portraits.
The javelineer's portrait is good; don't change it.

Re: Woudn't it be better to start with the campaigns?
Thanks for the comments, everyone. I'm taking all of them into account.
I've been working with Scott on the portraits for "Liberty," and I chose this unit line and the next I will attempt (Elven Shaman) because another campaign author requested units from these lines. Trying to take a few birds out at once here.luciano wrote:I find the portraits submitted up to now to be really good; but wouldn't it be better to have the ones needed for the shipped campaigns first?
