You could do that, and you can also edit your save file to give yourself more gold and the like.
I have had to "cheat" this way, when the random map generator for a campaign broke, to make the map playable (SoF, in version .8.9).
Also, when I play TRoW, I edit the unit files so my Criminal units can reach level 3.
Its your game to do with as you want, and if you feel like "cheating" in campaign mode, do so...

Its this new invention called a "text editor".nerrd2010 wrote:how do u edit ur saved file?

The save files are text files. Just open them, and there will be a bunch of XML-resembling stuff. You can figure it out yourself from here, its really not that hard.

First, you learn standard English. Then you type in complete words and sentences. Once you've accomplished those two things, you glance up at the menu bar and see if there's anything useful up there. (As a hint, try the "Folders" menu.)

Is this what you were aiming for?Nerd 2010 wrote:I am 13 years old, and I am in too much of a hurry to make my posts readable and coherent, nevertheless, I expect them to be answered.
Further, I am not capable of opening a file in a text editor (even though I have figured out how to post to this forum), so I need help with that.
Additionally, I feel like belittling you for suggesting that I post more coherently and use my native language (and I presume English is your native language) as it was meant to be used.
You open text files like you open every single other file on your computer. You can drag them onto the application you want to open them. You can right click (control-click) on them and choose "Open With…" or you and open an application and choose "Open…" from its "File" menu.

But think how much extra time you have spent posting about how you like to type quicky! People around here are anal about stuff like this for two reasons. First, it makes your posts more difficult to read. Second, there are a lot of users for whom English is their second language, and for their benefit we like to type in well-formed English. After all, if communication isn't your purpose, then why post?
As for the other thing, exactly what problems are you having with the text files? The game configuration files are stored inside the application icon. Right-click or apple-click on the icon, select 'show package contents' > 'Contents' > 'Resources' > 'data' to see them. The saved game files are located in /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/Wesnoth/data

Newer versions of wesnoth store the savefiles in xml binary something.
I had to change a config option with a texteditor.
In .wesnoth/preferences :
compress_saves="no"

I know when was the last post, but I must to say this. If you have learned how to work well with computer, open data folder in the folder where are the Wesnoth, then openunits folder. Select units files tou want to edit.Then just decrease unit cost. If you want extra easy, increase the strength of attacks and decrease needed xp.
