No, it means I think the devs have the ability to replace the really unbalanced maps in the current version (Valley of Death, Dwarven Wasteland, Battle World, Isle of the Damned, etc) with better ones (Morituri 2vs2, Charge 2vs2 -- these are great, although I don't trust the first to be balanced it's better than the ones in the first list) (and a bunch of others -- that 'two bridges' one, 'two undergrounders' maybe, but there are tons of user maps that are way better than the ones in the game) (basically we (the devs, whatever) need to get their act together and revise the official maps list!) (ugh, these parentheses are horrible) so that people don't play the majority of multiplayer games on unofficial maps, (not that that's too bad, just it's inconvenient and especially makes things somewhat difficult for newbies) so balancing can get done on maps everybody has (I don't have a copy of Morituri 2vs2, for instance, and I have no idea where to get one) so that people won't disagree on balancing based on a different map base with which it is possible/reasonable for them to play on. (It shouldn't be a requirment for anyone who wants to help balance the game to go and download a bunch of different user maps from all over the place.)Dragonking wrote:Maps which are included to relase aren't balanced. Or maybe you think it is opposite? Well... when you look at "3 rivers"...Elvish Pillager wrote:It's not even in the official Wesnoth release, which ought (IMO) to be the maps used to balance units on.
I think that I'll try to organize a map pack of maps I consider 'good enough', definitely a reasonable selection for 2, 3, 4, and 6 players each, (no sense making a small mappack, (sorry AT but 8 maps just isn't enough) and trying to make tiny increments but really just getting things cluttered. This should be more comprehensive, not that it has much of a chance. It'll be the first of its kind anyway if I do it...) and then try to get community support for it and get it into official Wesnoth. I am of course open to opinions on what maps should be included.
Side note: Three rivers isn't all that bad, actually. Even Dwarves are ok, and even Undead can't take ridiculous advantage. It's a nice balance between obstruction and openness. A bit much favor for Loyalists maybe...
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.
