Why random terrain spawns from nowhere? is it a bug?

Having a rather bizarre bug with the knockback weapon special. My save has two Ruffains with negative HP, both from being attacked with my Claymore-equipped Elven Rider. Dealing any damage immediately kills them and they don't seem to attack, but it's definitely a bug.

P.S, I dropped into this thread eons ago to ask for advice and I'm pleased to announce that this playthough is on normal and I'm absolutely crushing it. I might even become brave enough to try Hard, although I'm waiting until I get to part 2 and the land of three billion demons before I make arrogant presumptions about how good I am now.

I think this campaign would be better if I could control only those units who must not be destroyed and, for compensation, items were much easier to get.

Edit: What about giving a player two options when starting the campaign? The first option would be the original gameplay, and the second the gameplay suggested by me.
There are very much electrochemical currents in my brain.

I've completed the first half of the campaign and it was quite enjoyable experience. Though a campaign of such enormous length required few breaks during
playthrough.
Interconnections and references to mainline campaign and especially "late" epoch of Wesnoth history (rise of the second sun, the Fall, etc) were engaging.
The RPG part of the game is probably the most emphasized among custom campaigns I played which is nice. Items, gems and advanced unit progression system are definitely good. I'd like to suggest few improvements to inventory UI:
1. Adding icons for items in storage. This would make searching a bit more convenient (despite many items share images).
2. Make gems which are not used in selected crafting recipe colored grey.

It looks like the difficulty got upped for the one mission where you are cut off by the undead army in the forest since last I played it. That mission was way too easy the first few times I played it since I just had to give Ephriam the Woodland Cloak and harvest XP until I just moved to end it. Nice job adding the random undead trees to counter any stealth movement in the woods. I was caught off guard (and was mildly annoyed) but I'm glad that loophole is no longer available.

Thanks for your hard work on this incredible campaign. It's mechanics have kept me playing time and time again, and it's probably my #1 in terms of mechanics. Best free 200+ hours of my life (besides Wesnoth itself of course). Your work on this campaign has inspired one of my favorite D&D characters I've ever made, which was based on my Elven Nightprowler I had the first time I ran this game. Dude would go out and snipe elites. Sadly, in subsequent playthroughs of this campaign, I've not been able to make my Nightprowlers as cool as he was.

But again, thank you so much for the hard work you put into it. It really shows!

Edit: Thanks to your work on this campaign, I have to use LOTI Modifications when playing other campaigns, so you've kinda ruined vanilla Wesnoth for me. Also, apparently I've been quoted already, but my point still stands.

Yes.
Some things you did not do but need to do:
- take all the villages with a couple of ghosts, starve their economy
- use your leaders to help you lvl 1 units take the demons down, otherwise of course your units don't stand a chance

(You can't do this right now, because it's about the previous scenarios)
- pick up items, I really have no idea why the amount of items you have is this low, there are multiple items lying around (to be found) in the first 2 scenarios

There was only 1 mace in first scenario and sword and lethalias gear in scenario 2 and from these undeads nothing droped

I highly recommend getting a death knight from the previous scenario (soulless -> revenant -> death knight)
After that you recruit 3 ghosts, recall the death knight, and spawn a castle of normal skeletons.
Leaders + DK leadership + skeletons while grabbing villages with ghosts is an overkill, even on hard difficulty.

Sorry, it seems I misremembered, you are right. (Ftr, there is a second weapon if you explore far enough in S1.)

Masterpace is also correct, which is why in my replay I made a deathknight out of the skeletons.

There is low time a barely beat s1 60/60 turns used
Btw i beat in to the light it was not that much hard when using leaders amd attack with skeleton on demons who doesn't have blade resistance.

I want to ask why murderlust no longer works in defense its now useless ability .
And why when using doom attack on swormaster against belzebub in scenario corruption hitting him thrice his blade defense drop from 32 to 31%

And what are % chances on legacies ?i evolved snowhunter many times and got only 10 times light legacy 10 times sorrow legacy 5-10times titans and kings legacy one time dark dragon legacy and others not even once
