To be able to keep playing, I tried a different 'path'...
But now I'm missing the scenario "B4b_Mud_Quest".

Ah, you're using the same version as I am.

The Mud Hovel quests sometimes used to be problematic but that's supposed to be fixed. :?

Have you been tampering with the install? That part should work as-is.

No, I wouldn't know how to

I just added the campaign, played it one time without problems and started a 2nd time to try a different path.

That doesn't always stop people. ;)

Mmmm. Ani's Legacy is one of the most ambitious projects for Wesnoth that I've ever seen and it's bound to have weirdnesses like that. The original version was for BfW 1.12 and the author ported it, while still in beta testing stage, to BfW 1.14 himself. Then he disappeared and it was later ported by third parties as best as they could.

Haha, so the only thing to do, is to learn how to fix them myself 😄

I've been meaning to check it anyway.
Maybe it's time to stop playing and do some work 😋

I do believe that there are strips of xkcd and The Oatmeal that propose such, uhm, ‘solutions’.

I just finished playing Ani's quest, and really liked it! All the unusual units and art, the story, the variety.
I got one error message of a scenario ("The daughter") missing, but it was inconsequential and I've got Wesnoth 16.9 (the default version on Debian).

I don't really understand the recommendation to play Ani's legacy first. I've only done one playthrough of Ani's legacy with the most obvious choices (choosing Racoon and ending up as Warrior queen), it was not so interesting and I felt a little lost on some of the story, i.e. who is Mindra and why is she the enemy, why is the heroine a half-dragon, .... This would have been much clearer playing in chronological order.

Another note - I found the very first scenario of Ani's quest insanely hard on normal. I don't know how I should have fought all these elementals with the woses. Is there a strategy? I had to switch to easy, unfortunately.

The point is that there are… 36? possible endings and that if you play Ani's Quest before Ani's Legacy then some plot points are revealed beforehand. Ani's Quest is the prequel, i.e. the intended (optimal?) reading order is for it to be read (=played) after Ani's Legacy.

That said, you really can play them in any order and it's a lot of fun anyway. :)
