Are units persistent in multi-player?
If so how? Playing with level one units all the time is a little boring but as a newbie I wouldn't want to start and find I was playing someone who had recalled a bunch of level 5 units!
Is this something that may be introduced later on or a feature I have missed?

To the best of my knowledge, (In the whopping three multiplayer games I've played), you start with a L2 leader and recruit L1 guys each time.
Regardless, that's fine to me, and I don't see how it's "boring" like that. You get many units to choose from, and they can level up during the game.
Other multiplayer strategy games start you off with the most basic units as well, and you work towards having more powerful units as the game progresses. It's part of the fun.

Having a "recall list" in multiplayer is a much-discussed feature, and the conclusion has been that it would be too open for abuse. In a elimination-style tournament, however, it might work quite well.
If you don't like playing with level one units and a level two leader, you could try playing the "Age of Heroes" era. In this era, you can recruit level two units, and your leader is level three. Of course, the same goes for your opponent...

This is a long proposed idea, but the implimentation of it is tricky, so, no you haven't missed anything. It may get added in the future, but don't hold your breath.derb wrote:If so how? Levelling up
The problem is that it rarely happens in the time frame of a typical multi-player game.
As for how to do it - Warlords Battlecry had a model that seemed to work. You could "charge" more for the higher level units and/or ration them somehow...

Level ups happen all the time in my multiplayer games. What exp % are you playing at?derb wrote:The problem is that it rarely happens in the time frame of a typical multi-player game.
Try playing Age of Heroes. You are given the option to recruit level 2 units in it for an increased gold cost.As for how to do it - Warlords Battlecry had a model that seemed to work. You could "charge" more for the higher level units and/or ration them somehow...
Or if it doesn't suit you, you could make your own era.

I keep my experience at the default value and even on a small map like The Broken Bridge, there will be several units who reach level 2.
However, I must admit that a recall feature for a single-elimination tournament would be cool. Without looking at the code, it sounds like it would be a difficult feature to implement.
