Sorry for the delay, my comp broke :augh:
Anyways I did from gz file before and after updating but still didn't work. :o
Edit: If I skip with the debug, will the campaign still work like normal
Sorry for the delay too, I was travelling these days ;-)
Anyway, I will see if anyone in the WML forum can find out what is causing that event not to trigger; I've played and replayed it several times, but this bug never happened.
I'm annexing a modified file of scenario 12; paste it on userdata\data\add-ons\A_Song_of_Fire\scenarios in your computer, and skip scenario 11 with debug. If you skip it without this modified file, you will start scenario 12 without your heroes, your army and Myra will be lvl 1 again.
And sorry again for making you wait for so long
"The Sun Path": "thread lightly" → "tread lightly".

"Wings of Rebellion": "our prays" → "our prayers".

"The Valley of Silence": "I humbly thank thee" ... here "thee" is referring to the "Great Gods", which is plural. But "thee" is singular.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_Mode ... h#Pronouns

"thee" should be replaced with "you" (the objective form of "ye").

I should also add that "aquatic body" does not appear to heal 5 HP in water as advertised.
Thanks for pointing out the misspellings :-) About the "aquatic body" problem, this is a bug of the War of Legends era; you should warn its author, Lord Knightmare, about it ;-)

Hello, I'm new to Wesnoth and Forums.

"A Song of Fire" looked very interesting so I wanted to try it out. However, with the current release (1.11.5) I get an error when trying to start the campaign. Under version 1.10.6 I can't even seem to find the mod itself as a download.

The error message is:

Code: Select all

error config: Macro/file '~add-ons/War_of_Legends/units/humans' is missing at ~add-ons/A_Song_of_Fire/_main.cfg:113
and then also:

Code: Select all

error general: Unknown scenario: '01_Rain_of_Fire'

I do have War of Legends installed as well. However, when I look under the respective folder there's no directory called "humans", only several called "human_aragwaithi", "human_campaigns" etc...

Am I missing something else or doing something wrong here? :augh:

No, don't worry ;-) It's just that the new version of War of Legends has differently named folders; apparently, this era's author didn't put a changelog in the era's topic, so only now I'm aware of it...
Anyway, put the annexed file below in the A_Song_of_Fire folder (you'll have to replace the older main.cfg file); I will upload version 0.4.1 to be in accord with WoL's new version, but I have other changes to do as well, and I'm currently with little free time ;-)
Under version 1.10.6 I can't even seem to find the mod itself as a download.
That's because I've uploaded this campaign to the 1.11 server only.
and then also:

Code: Select all
error general: Unknown scenario: '01_Rain_of_Fire'
This appears because of the previous error; it shall disappear as soon as the missing macro problem is over.
PS.: if you find problems wih unknown_unit_id, please do warn me; the id of the War of Legends unit may have been changed as well.

Version 0.4.1 is out, updated to be in accordance with War of Legends' latest version. For next version, I think I'll try some animations :-P

Code: Select all

Version 0.4.1:
        -------------------
      - Era:
         - Now in accordance with the latest version of the War of Legends era
      - Writing:
         - Corrected some mistakes
      - Units:
         - Removed Tsunami attack from Myra's Avatar form

Hello!
I just tried this campaign, and was not deceived!
I played it on Wesnoth 1.11.5 with 0.4.1 since the previous didn't works well as already told by Saeri.
About the difficulty... with normal level, it is sometimes quite challenging and some scenarios requires to build a real strategie to not be crushed :P
It is not true for all campaigns and this is why I enjoyed this one! So i put a rate of 7 for the difficulty.
The scenarios seems to be quite balanced, it can be very hard or normal depending on the way you do it.

I went up to "Fires of Hopes" but I noticed a bug : from "Farewell, Part 3", Dvalin disappear, this is not a severe issue, but it is quite annoying for the dialogs ! I just rapidly looked in the WML, but since i'm a novice in that, I didn't found the origin of the issue :?

That's all I think, I hope my english will be undertsable

I'm glad that you enjoyed the campaign! About the bug, I've noticed that similar things occasionally happen with many players, though it's never happened to myself; and I still can't understand why it happens. I'll ask the folks in the WML forum about storing/unstoring units, maybe I've done something wrong when using these tags...
Anyway, I'd strongly recommend that you restarted Farewell - Part 3 and see if Dvalin appeared, but since you're in Fires of Hope already, put the code below in the file of scenario 20, Ring of Fire; if Dvalin's not present, you're going to have troubles further in the campaign, and miss a lot of information.
This is the code; just put it anywhere in the file. If you don't have a program for coding (like Notepad++), copy the entire coding, paste it in notepad and save the file as "20_Ring_Of_Fire.cfg" at the campaign's scenarios folder. Any problem, just tell me ;-)

Code: Select all

    [event]
        name=prestart

        [unit]
            {DVALIN}
            side=1
            x=42
            y=19
        [/unit]
   [/event]

Thanks for the answer!
In fact, I already tried several times to restart Farewell, Part 3... No way the little dwaf was hiding ! I even tried to replay Farewell Part 1 and 2 but it didn't make any change.
As Dvalin was only there for dialogs in the scenarios I played, I just opened the .cfg of each scenarios to search for Dvalin dialogs. I could know thereby what he was telling :P

And thanks for the code, it worked well!

Well, it's been a while :-P But it was for a good cause: I've been busy developing the ASoF sequel, War of the Jewel :-D
For version 0.4.2, I've prepared some new sprites for our High Ascendant, giving her some animations and a special sprite for her Sacred Arrow attack. I've also made a few changes to some portraits, some other sprites, and given Akashia some special skills to set her apart from other Heretics ;-)

Here is the changelog:

Code: Select all

Version 0.4.2:
        -------------------
      - Units:
         - Added animation to Maat's sprite
         - Gave Akashia a stronger attack and magical weapon specials
      - Artwork:
         - Altered the eye colour of Myra's portrait; more extensive modifications to Akashia's portrait
         - Altered the sprites for both the Ascended and the Corrupted Seraph.

So, version 0.4.3 is released with a feature I've wanted to use since I was coding Part I of this campaign: a unique architectonic style for the Windsong (not quite unique, in fact, it's just a recoloured version of the Desert Castle and Keep :-P ). I also added a nice weather effect for the Ring of Fire scenario, and finally found a way to prevent the rain sound fx from outliving the scenario.

Code: Select all

Version 0.4.3:
        -------------------
      - WML:
         - Some little changes to the coding
         - Ring of Fire: 'rain' sound should now stop playing when scenario ends
      - Terrain:
         - Added new terrain type for Windsong fortresses
         - Added weather effect

Now, a little extra feature for this post: I know I'm not being original in the least, but I'm eager to publish this campaign, and so I couldn't refrain from publishing at least a screenshot. So, for ladies and gentlemen to whom it may interest, here is the first image of my new campaign, sequel to A Song of Fire and Part II of the Dragon Trilogy: War of the Jewel :-D

And so we come to the 100th post in this topic! :-D But this one is not about the campaign itself; I've uploaded version 0.2.4 of the ASoF Music Pack, with some new tracks that will be used in War of the Jewel. Those who don't intend to play don't need to update the Music Pack, but those who do (and I hope there are some, I'm really working hard on it ;-) ) may update it already; War of the Jewel should be done by the end of next week already 8)

Speaking of which...

So, I took some free time to make some more tweaks to ASoF. Mostly I corrected and optimized (not sure whether this word actually fits here :-P )the code of the scenarios; hopefully those weird bugs (such as the scenario 11's ending event not triggering and Dvalin not appearing in Farewell - Part 3) that happened to some players won't happen anymore, but if they do, please let me know :-)
I also added a new porttrait and recoloured the portraits of some Aragwaithi heroes; after all, their red clothing looked really weird, considering that their sprites wore green ;-) For next version, I'll make better sprites for some Hannuk units.

Code: Select all

Version 0.4.4:
        -------------------
      - WML:
         - Many changes to the coding
         - A New Legend Rises, part II: 'wave' sound should now stop playing when scenario ends
      - Story:
         - Minor changes to some dialogues
      - Artwork:
          - Recoloured the porttraits of Jevyan, Varthan and Aracyn.
          - Added a new portrait for King Dashien (authored by Crow_T)
Ah, and BTW, I'm nearly done with the first part of War of the Jewel; there's just 3 scenarios left to code, though they're amongst the most complicated , so I should only be done with them by the end of this week. Meanwhile, have a foretaste of the powers you're going to wield as the hero Akhen Wadjet, the last heir of Myra and Jevyan :-D

Re: A Song of Fire: SP Campaign Feedback and Reviews

Hi again folks! I was going to wait some time before releasing a new version, but I've recently decided to change a few important things, and so I couldn't wait any longer.
I've changed the story behind the creation of the High Dragons; no huge change, the core is still the same, I've just changed the 'actors', that is, the beings who created them. This is because, as I'm developing the plot of the Dragon Trilogy and planning the plot of Part III, I've found some hindrances caused by the way I had originally developed the High Dragons' creation. With this change, however, I'm freer to weave the threads of the overall story as I wish.
This said,here is the changelog for v. 0.4.5 :-)

Code: Select all

Version 0.4.5:
        -------------------
      - Story:
         - Some changes to the dialogues in Last Revelations
      - Artwork:
          - Updated portrait of King Dashien
          - Some changes to Dragon Ascendant's sprite.
          - New and animated sprites for the Hannuk Charioteer line (I still find them ugly, though, I'm no artist, you know :-P )
Author of the Dragon Trilogy.

I see; I hadn't noticed that there was a new version of the War of Legends era, that's what caused this bug - saeri's problem was similar, but with yet another version. But I've already uploaded a new version to fix this problem, so just download it and you'll be able to start playing ;-)
BTW, I'll have to upload a new version for War of the Jewel too...

Code: Select all

Version 0.4.6:
        -------------------
      - Add-On:
         - Fixed bug caused by different version of the War of Legends add-on
