Noob Leavers may be available for practice on Friday/Saturday evenings GMT+2. We shall see if family life interferes!

Just kidding. But 300s are actually the maximum setting of turn bonus. :)
Whoops! Alpha1 told me to increase this by 15s! That sad liar! I'm going to have a chat with him!
lol yeah blame everything on me :D Although i was suggesting a minor turn limit increase (which can go up to 15 mnutes), not turn bonus :P

It's time for the news:

After a short talk with alpha1 we've decided that it will be best to start The Grand Tag 4 on September 1, regardless of how early the team list will be full. I have to go on a holiday leave (it would be hard to explain to my friends that I can't go because I'm organising an on-line tournament) on August 21 and I won't be back until August 31. So as you can see, September 1 is the earliest date I can manage. And besides, it's a sunday and it's after vacations are over so most teams will be home (or so I hope).
Thanks for your understanding and stay hyped!
Oh, I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?

I will not be home during the first week of September, but that shouldn't be a problem.

- everybody has to play RANDOM FACTION
I think this sometime result in unbalanced game and as anoel mentioned above there is chance for mirror games, so here is my suggestion:
All 4 players join the game as random, then faction selection starts with player #1 followed by #1 from other team and same sequence.
When a faction is taken by a player it's not allowed to be selected again (by mean 4 different factions should be played)

I think this would be fair since every team chose their own factions and give chance for teams to counter each other. For example, if a team fav faction is taken they still can counter.

Rather than going random and pray :P

My suggestion: allow teams agree in draw a game ---> mirror problem solved.
(I think this is almost a rule, because I remember a game where players agree in draw, in a past TGT)
Be aware English is not my first language and I could have explained bad myself using wrong or just invented words.

Ok, so there wasn't any official rule about this before, and we've decided to make the following rule official:

Anything not forbidden by the rules is permitted by mutual agreement.

This means that, for example, during a mirror game it is not forbidden to start over so players can vote on this issue. If they all agree, they are allowed to start again.

Yeah this is actually an old idea

but:
1. We would need somebody to code a TGT-era with factions-randomizer (and while he is at it, perhaps also add the official TGT-timer and fixed ToD  )
2. Mirrors/semi mirros also happen in real life, and while some of them may be boring there are many special strategies for dealing with certain mirrors, knowledge of which should belong to the repertoire of every decent 2vs2 player. So completly removing mirrors would 1. move the TGT games away, from what can actually occure in normal games. 2 Remove a large chunk of knowledge that defines decent players as such.

also see Dunno's post above ;)

Edit: ah wait a second, you mean pick manually? Nah lets leave it like that (or everyone will pick loys first :D )

Well, Dunno, we understand you cannot start the tournament before 1st of September due to real life issues, but once you are back and start the tournament on 1st of September, you'd better make sure a round doesn't last more than 4 weeks. I strongly suggest enforcing the SHOWDOWN rule and be proactive about teams actually playing and finishing their games.

SHOWDOWN for game 1 of the round: 13 days into the round.
SHOWDOWN for game 2 of the round: 20 days into the round.
SHOWDOWN for game 3 of the round: 27 days into the round.

For those of you who do not know what SHOWDOWN is, see my proposed rule set. SHOWDOWN basically guarantees non-stop action until the conclusion of the match.

Cheers,

neki

Another poor soul falling into the trap of real life ... :P

I just wanted to doublecheck: so this means the opening ceremony will be on September the first? If so, is it possible to put a time on it so people can try keep it free?

Yeah, it will be held on September the first, however, I want to set the exact time after the last team signs up. It's because I don't want to make it on an Europe-biased time if another team outside of Europe signs up. It'll probably be a small difference, but there's no hurry.

September 1st? That unfortunately pushes the 2nd round into my vacation plans. I guess Noob Leavers are going to aim for max(lol) during the first round, then! :lol2:
