Umm, descriptions?... Nearly no one cares about descriptions. I want to be honest - it is a waste of time and effort at this stage of development to focus on descriptions. I did some descriptions formerly and writing good ones is time & energy consuming activity. But maybe you want to have everything finished before you will move to another factions

Your point of view is right, I want to finish the first factions before I take a look on the next one.
But I only take a short view on the descriptions and change only a view words and sentences. Dont worry about that.
I think im nervertheless very fast.

I've played it and here are some comments:
-First of all, you should increase the game speed. All units are very slow compared to normal wesnoth, and it makes default maps almost unplayable. I think increasing movement points of most units by 1 should fix this.
-Make less single strike attacks. Because wesnoth is strongly based on luck and units with single strike attacks are very luck-dependant. And it makes machinegunners overpowered. You see, 3-2 is usually more than 6-1, because most players try to place their units on terrain with 50%+ defense. And that causes single strikers to miss often while those with more than one strike hit. You see the paradox? Rifleman aims worse than a sub-machinegunner. Also, Uhlan with its charge attack is useless, again, because it has only one strike and takes a lot of damage in retaliation.
-Consider making melee ranged units. This could fix some issues I mentioned above- e.g sub machine gun has a lower range than a rifle or a tank. Grenades also have a low range, it's a bit silly that artillery attacking infantry is damaged by grenades.
But aside from that, it really shows promise! Keep up the good work!

1.Speed: The "feeling" of the game is different to Wesnoth. One point of this new "feeling" is the movement. Westfront games are even longer than Wesnoth games. The reason is my attempt to make a clear difference between infantry, tanks, guns ans scouts (in their movement). The reduced movement is the result of a mixture from Wesnoth gameplay and "realistic" movements.
2.Single strikes: Your doubts/hints are right. I know that it is even harder to hit. The polish army used outdatet weapons, vehicles etc. In Westfront I try to show this fact with the "surprise bags" of polish units. That means that you dont know what you get. If they hit, they hit really hard. If not, its really bad for you.
I played many, many, many Westfront games and the factions are balanced anyway. The next factions dont use single attacks in this quantity, I promise.
3. Uhlan: You hit my point of weakness.
I definetely will change the attack, or give them a second without charge. 2. thought is to reduce the cost.
4. Melee range units: This is a really nice idea! Now, why didn't I think of that? If you take a look on some units like the wz.1897 you can see that they use "first strike" to show that this weapon can fire in long range.

Tonight I will work on the profiles, portraits, Scripts and so on.

The new French Army sprites are looking good, but I'm afraid of Captaine's pose. He seems offended, not ready for action!
Could you please give PzKpfw IV to Germans in future? I have also idea for a special polish unit - infantryman with wz. 35 anti-tank rifle (''Ur'').

The french Capitaine is a really "cool" guy and stand with crossed arms. If he attack, he draw the weapon from his right side. This looks great, I think. The Commanders of the factions purport to be the most special units in game.
The Panzer IV is planned for the future, the antitank rifle is a great idea, too. I will notice this for the moment and take a look at the appropriate time.

One thing to mention, is that the French sprites have fuzzy edges. Look great though! 

Sorta on a break from the forums ATM, have been for a while. If I was doing something for/with you and I haven't recently, that's why, I will be back soon hopefully.

I've also noticed that units in your era have no traits at all... is that intentional? Traits add a nice touch to this game, in my opinion

FYI, firststrike and charge aren't traits, they're weapon specials. He meant things like strong, healthy, resilient, etc.

Oh sorry, I missunderstood!
Stuff like that I will integrate after finishing french faction.
I want to build "Battle for Westfront" piece by piece to bypass bigger problems. Its easyer to recognize bugs and balancing problems in this way.
