REQUEST: Social media and Wesnoth Fund

Post by bellpaolo »

Wesnoth should make better use of social media, to be known.
I propose to include in the official website of the buttons "share" (twitter and facebook).
and I include in this context the idea of our friend "Quetzalcoatl" visible on this page http://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=36871

Many Thanks.

There already is a presence on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/wesnoth).

Staff is open to having an official presence on Facebook, but atm no one wants or is able to take it on.

As for the fund, last time I inquired about donating in general, I’ve been made aware there is a cash reserve from iOS sales and that donations were better aimed towards particular Wesnoth contributors or development projects (for example, commissioning artwork). Perhaps this has changed, but I was cautioned that individual donations probably wouldn’t have any direct effect.

That being said, you might be interested in promotions like the Humble Bundle, which from time to time take the proceeds from game sales and donate it to charity (for example, Child’s Play), or towards a certain cause.

First of all, i suggest a Twitter BUTTON (share button) like this, in home page https://twitter.com/about/resources/buttons#tweet or Facebook Share Button like this http://theerinryan.com/wp-content/uploa ... Button.jpg.
With those, an user can promote your website easily, increasing the popularity of the project.

This is my First suggestion, for fund question i know "blender foundation developing fund" that works. And is a good idea to make something similar.

But this is only my personal opinion, my goal is only help the community and future gamers.
Many Thanks and excuse me for my poor english
