maybe the lord should attack with one axe, then the other, instead of both at once. i tried wielding two axes and attacking with both at the same time... it seems hard.

One overarching comment - the shading on these is ... virtually non-existant, which makes them look quite out of place in wesnoth. (To be brutally honest, I would mark it as a notably lower grade of sprite art). This means some work will need to be done before these are suitable for use in the game.

HOWEVER, you shaping, and general color choices for these guys is great, not to mention that the attack/defend frames are decently well done.
Incidentally, your means of going at this also results in well-differentiated units (with the notable exception of the crusher/mauler).

what does this mean? - It means you should continue to make these. Finish up the tree, animate them, and then we can probably get some people to polish them up - heck, you could then work on new techniques.

-------

That said, the only specific suggestion I would give is this - take the crusher, and make him a level-1 guy. Make him a big slimmer, and give him a wooden club, not unlike the thug.

That way, you get a nice progression of weapons - club turns into mace, which then turns into whatever you pick for level-3.

good luck

The pictures are great but (in the animation frames) the arms seem pretty small compared to their boots.

Thanks for the constructive critisism. I thought that they were shaded, but after reading your post, i started noticing some heavy mistakes. I`m usually very excited after "finishing" image, and post it without finishing touches :) . I`ll add more shading, especially on the helmets and skin.

But the hellish votex, school will keep me away from these for a week-or-so

I like the club-mace idea.

I think that the lord-attack image is fine. I was going to make him attack with only one at a time first, but i thought about it and came into conclusion that it would be brutal to attack with both at the sametime (heck with axe-techiques, ill chop you down right now!)

He wouldn't do that for long. It hurts more if you mess up, and you can't possibly do much more damage with two axes. I also think that someone who is level 3 is skilled, and would not say "heck with axe-techiques".
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

For the Mauler I think that you remove the grey around the shoulders to give him more of a sense of distinction from the Crusher.

The seems a little too bland, maybe add a cape to give more of a flair? The grey boots don't seem to blend it as well. Maybe a darker brown instead?

It would be nice to have another human, viking faction. I am excited to see what else you come up with.

I managed to squeeze some time and do the picture above

Future plans;

1) Re-doing Lord`s attack image; i`ll make him attack with one at time

2) Animating scout-line, after that well have two units "complete" and making them possible to use in some scenarios

3) Bugging real-artists until someone agrees to give them "touch-ups"

4) Re-doing mauler line, and finding someone to "touch-up" them

5) Finishing the ship (not a real unit, so its last on my list)

6) Partying like a madman and joining to finish translation team...

Here i managed to finish it....

But i have something bad to tell you all- i don`t have time for these anymore. My schooltable for next 2 1/2 months ain`t looking very promising; everyday from 8 till 15 and it takes 1 hour for buss-travels, so its actually 7 till 16. I`ve also got 7 tests coming up + hobbies + my rpg group + all homework i get from school. So i had to cut from somewhere.

You could think that doing these images wouldn`t take much time, but for me-it does. You see, i`m no real artist, i`m just nick-the-normal who decided to do some sprites. For me it usually takes 4-5 hours for one (not quite complete) image. I would love to see someone take over my work, but i wont start bugging people about it. But even if no-one wants to take over the project, i wont be sad- i had quite a good time making these :)

I`m sorry for letting you all down....

I'll work on them if they are still intended to be included in the game, as my purpose is to use them on my barbarian campaign, too. I'll PM Dave about that on weekend if he doesn't answer here before. :)

you could always just include them in a user-made campaign and put it on the server. I would download it. :)
