So we have group finals without previous finalists... this is going to be interesting, actually.

First i wish our opponents all the best for the further tournament and wish to thank the TGT Crew for their effort and enthusiasm making this tournament special enough to spend my more then rare spare time. Thanks to my buddy plk2 doing most communication work and being a perfect buddy. Also our opponents proved pertfect sportmanship and fair play. It has been a pleasure to play these games. See y a next tournament!

Hey mates

In case you are wondering why there are only three teams in the group finals, well our matchup is still in progress.

We had some trouble in terms of communication and really not that important issues like work or children but we finally managed to set a time for our game.

We will play Saturday, morning, 04:00 GMT (Friday Midnight EST, Friday 11PM CST, 6AM GMT+2).

We are already 9 or so turns into the game.

It is Loyalists (Noughty Wookiees, player 1) and Drakes against Knalgan (Mystery Knights, player 2) and Undead.

I know it is really an odd time, but still I hope some of you manage to watch this game.

Hello everybody,

I thank Dreadnough for posting the final time of their long awaited game.

I will officially announce the beginning of round 3 after their matchup ends this weekend, but in case the Tentacles and Landfish wanted to start their marine clash earlier for some reason, they are allowed to do so :)

The tournament is so slow...

For TGT 4, additionally to accepting 24 teams and having 16 teams play a qualifying round, we should pre-settle the time of each round, preferably two weeks to finish all 3 matches.

I honestly prefer to see weaker teams that have time to play and an action packed 2 months tournament, than seeing no matches whatsoever during a long period of time. People get bored and lose interest and who can blame them ?! I know how Wesnoth is and bla-bla-bla but if we make no effort in trying to make this into what any normal person would call "tournament" , we will never have true Wesnoth tournaments and competitional Wesnoth whatsoever: we will always be stuck with the nice "bla-bla" in a forum thread that barely gets 10% of the attention it should get. For example, 95% of the people posting here are players or organizers, did any of you wonder where is the "crowd" of spectators ?! Shouldn't we make an effort to get one ?

... and yet our Official TGT Reporter managed to cast only miniscule of TGT 3rd Ed. games that were played until now...

Discussion about TGT 4 and "what could be done better" will take place after this TGT. Atm it's too early to discuss it.

As a potential participant, I would like to let admins know I'm looking forward to an open discussion about how TGT 4 should look like.
Thanks

I cant be more disagree. If you want watch a big amounth of 2v2 games played by noobs, just go to replay server and download them. There are a lot every day. TGT is interesting because quality of games are far ahead of any you can see out of it. And if we assume this tournament started on 1st of September (allow players play on August was fine, but some teams had to wait for players come back from holidays), it means we mostly have finished 2 rounds in 5 weeks. I dont see that so slow :?

Yep, I agree with tekelili. TGT is about competition. It's for the players. I couldn't care less about observers getting bored.

Have you ever looked at the list of observers during a TGT game? There is definitely a crowd. Now, I can't speak for everyone, but I've decided against posting in this thread several times in the past. Non-participants posting would clutter it up and make it more difficult for it to be used for organizational purposes.

On that note, if you want to discuss this with me, PM me so we can avoid thread clutter ;)

That's a pity, Caphriel. I would actually encourage non-participants to post in this thread - as long as their posts are TGT-related ofc. We consider this tournament kind of a service and contribution to the wesnoth community, done by community for community so to say. And since the community does not exclusively consist of the very limited number of players that participate in current TGT-edition, opinions of non-participants are important for us as well.

As to discussion about the future TGT-changes, they are a bit premature at this point, since this edition is still running. However if you have ideas on the TGT-improvements please write them down and make sure to let us know them after this edition is over. (thats what i did after the end of 2nd Edition ;))

I gotta agree with tekelili too, I think kinda slow pace of the games is no problem for wesnoth tournament. If you want to see something more action packed you can watch something like starcraft 2 (which I personally enjoy too).

In general I would like to say it's great to see tournaments that are well organized like this one. I haven't been following it lately but I haven't been playing either but as a player I loved the idea of tournaments.

Btw I'm getting my new comp in 1-2 weeks. After that it will propably take a week to set up my stream. I'm planning to do a weekend streaming of wesnoth ónce I get it up, to test it and set it just right... but this is just speculation, lets see in 3 weeks. And if there's tournament games when I stream wesnoth I'll be casting them.
