Backstab animation
What about having a different nastier special animation for backstab attacks??.
As its not the same trying to land a hit than trying to deliver a sneaky fatal killing blow.

Aha--- when a Backstab unit attacks, whichever way the defense is facing, switch it to facing away from, not towards, the attacker.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

Aha II: Make the unit on the other side start its attack sequence with each of the thief's attacks, but back off quickly. When it does this, the enemy will face the other unit.Dacyn wrote:If a way of automatically modifying images could be produced, maybe we could do something with the unit on the other side?

That sounds hard to script - but if possible would be awesome.

Aha III: Do this only on a succesful attack. On a failed attack have the unit defend normally.Elvish Pillager wrote:Aha II: Make the unit on the other side start its attack sequence with each of the thief's attacks, but back off quickly. Why do this only when the attack is successful?Darth Fool wrote:Aha III: Do this only on a succesful attack. Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the drug store, but that's just peanuts to space.

It's more metaphorical than literal. The only reason a backstab would miss is because they recipient caught on. A normal attack misses because it's parried or dodged. When the guy catches on, he can parry/dodge and the sneak attack, which would be too risky in open combat, is aborted.
Hope springs eternal.
