What's so wrong with Elite Javelineer? We already have Knight->Grand Knight and Mage->SNIP->Great Mage...

Here are the updated game-ready png's for the ranged attack. I will work on a defend frame and a melee attack frame tonight. I might also add a recovery frame to the ranged attack.

right you are. I will fix that tonight along with the rest, assuming my laptop doesn't run out of juice (the power supply just died and the battery is at 70%)...

How about the spearman AND fencer can BOTH advance to the swordsman?

But, the Javelineer should be an advancement of the spearman, and the swordsman IMO should not be level one.

here are modified ranged attacks 2 and 3, a recovery for the ranged(4), and a defense frame. melee frames will follow once I get a new power supply for my laptop.

Interesting. Mix up the unit trees. The swordsman isn't level one, and I never suggested it so.

If there are no other comments on the art, then all we need is to agree on the stats and we can post it to the sticky unit thread here: ttp://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2974 so that it can be forgotten...

While I cannot object to "Elite Javilineer" as a name for the level 3 unit, I am surprised that no one has suggested "Peltast." Surely "Peltast" would be a good name for an advanced spear-thrower!

I am not surprised. 'Peltast' is not a word in my dictionary, and I have no idea what it means.

Peltast - comes from "pelt" which means "to throw at something," right?
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the drug store, but that's just peanuts to space.

You have the right definition for pelt, however I think the verb is more often used when people are throwing rotten vegetables. Either way, peltast is not a word, and it's meaning is not obvious. Bad idea, IMO.
