Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
Okay! I'm back with an update!
I managed to get onto 1.8 for a precious seven minutes, making one upload (version 1.1.3 beta) that will fix some (not all) of the aforementioned balancing issues. Among the things fixed:
Nerfed the chieftain line in most areas. Didn't follow through on it due to lack of time.
Gave all the shadows "undead" so that they are immune to poison, plague, and drain. Shadow troopers also do impact damage.
Bumped the elephant bird's level up to two; the "big bird" has been bumped up accordingly.
The entire healer overhaul I did for 1.9 should now be in 1.8 as well. It could be still OP because of the way in which I brought the files over from 1.9.
Mountain_King's image should now show up.
Feathered warriors have been partially fixed, but they're not quite there yet.
The standing animation error that caused the elephant bird to disappear should also be fixed.
Things NOT fixed in this latest release for 1.8:
Davidian's stray tooth attack hasn't been fixed.
Anything involving the scenario files: Multiple teams with the same color, the negative turns bug, etc.
The Spy line's resistances have not been bumped down yet.
Chieftain still isn't spelled right in any of the unit files. XD
I'm slowly working on another 1.9 release (1.2.4), but there aren't enough changes yet so, if those oh-so-helpful 1.9 playtesters can come back...
Best Regards,
Mountain_King

Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
Just to let you know, I got a good laugh out of the character "Mark ov Chain."
Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
"An Otherworldy Experience" is extremely hard. The enemies have a ton of gold and your ally has almost none. Would it be possible to make him less... stupid? Since most of my troops are wosses I can't get them to him fast enough to defend him, so he always ends up dying. It would help a lot if he played more defensively and never left his keep: he always rushes out and gets himself killed. He also uses a marksman to scout. It would help (and make more sense) if the villages behind his keep already belonged to him at the start of the game.

I'm playing the same scenario, and when Cutie arrives the screen flashes red. The problem is that everything stays red-tinted.wesfreak wrote:"An Otherworldy Experience" is extremely hard. Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
It does that for a turn for me, and changes back to regular TOD afterwards. It's part of the TOD cycle. (I think).
EDIT: Finally finished that level. How? I took control of the elf leader. He was less of a boon and more of an annoying unit in the middle of the battlefield that you need to protect. If he came over to the players side when he was seen so that he could actually be protected, than the scenario would be a lot more... possible.
In the next scenario, I got saber tooth kitty recruits even though I didn't have them earlier on.
In the scenario after that, it was much too easy. I only recalled two bainfaiths, and the ghosts killed the shadows before I was even attacked. The map was also unnecessarily large, and most of it is empty space. You might want to consider shrinking it.

Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
The red went away for me too once the time of day changed.
Also, for me the Saurians, Orcs, and Drakes all started fighting each other. That certainly made the level much easier than wesfreak describes! I did re-load from a save game early on so maybe this is some sort of 1.9 bug rather than anything in the scenario?

Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
Yes, the red is part of the ToD cycle. If I ever get around to the semi-overhaul of the dialogue, it will explain the special ToD.
I can't think of anything that might have caused the enemies to fight each other, if you can figure it out that's a plus. Come to think of it, if you were playing in 1.9 you could send me a save-game and I can try and figure it out myself. Also, if you were playing in 1.9 you would have it would have been quite a bit easier, as I gave extra units to your side earlier on. For now, it's probably best just to take over side 2 like wesfreak did.
"To the caves"...I'm inclined to agree with wesfreak. New map, new everything. As soon as I can get some time off from schoolwork (and access to the computer w/1.
, then I'm going to redo the entire thing. It didn't get much love before it was initially released, which is why it kinda sucks now.
Another note:
Would "Otherworldly Experience" be easier if you got to recruit Sprites then instead of in the following scenario?
Thanks again for the feedback,

The sudden appearance of Saber kitties was due to a quick fix with the lost recruits in the previous scenarios. I kind of forgot about the players who pay the toll and never take that little detour to get kitties.wesfreak wrote: If he came over to the players side when he was seen so that he could actually be protected, than the scenario would be a lot more... possible.

Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
Probably: The better movetype and extra speed should help you get to the allied leader. I think the most important thing, if you're not going to make him join the player's side, is to have him play defensively and not leave his keep. He often does, and gets himself killed/injured.
Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
I tried loading the save game again and they started fighting again. I've tried attaching it so you can see if it happens for you or not. It is Wesnoth 1.9.4 and I downloaded Ice Age Fun for the first time about a week or two ago.
I really should learn WML but I haven't yet so I doubt I can find any bugs.

Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
Strange. I experienced none of those problems. Which version do you have?

Re: The Ice Age/Ice Age Fun
Okay, I just found time to release an update for 1.9 (1.2.4) and 1.8 (1.2.3).
Changes in 1.8:
Davidian's stray tooth attack is fixed.
Multiple teams with the same color is fixed!
Spelling of chieftain line is also fixed.
Spy line resistances have been brought more in line with mainline elusivefoot.
Bumped up your allies' gold in "Otherworldy Experience" and gave him some villages to start with.
Changes in 1.9 version:
Otherworldly experience bug with Orcs attacking everyone else is fixed (I realized it was due to an ai fix I made in the 1.9 version. A misplaced tag put the orcs on a team by themselves. With Saurians on one side and Drakes on the other, they didn't last long.)..
Campaign description now warns against being on 1.9.2 or lower while playing.
Chieftain spellings have been fixed I think.
Still haven't fixed the negative counting with the Mountain King (me haha no wonder I sucked at my last math test) because of the amount of coding involved. The problems Kymille had in Stone of Destiny was due to you doing things out of order. I expected players to complete the rune puzzle before searching out the "stuff" for the ghost.
Are the gates impassable until you complete the previous test? That could be contributing to your problem if they aren't.
That's all the time I have for today.
Best Regards,
Mountain_King
