Actually, no, he recoloured the Clasher's spear hand and did a head swap. It's a competent frankie, but I'd say it's too similar to the Clasher to really stand out.

Just to clear this up, I recoloured all of a Clasher's scales, grafted on a Burner's wings and head, then relaxed his left arm.

Any suggestions to what I could do to difference him from a clasher?

Armour colour is the big thing, I think. The clasher line's armour colour is very distinctive. Also, spears are canonically a taboo weapon among the Drakes, only the clasher caste uses them.

Right, okay, Dralkath (the drake) has a slightly changed orangey armour, but never mind that, I now need to create a much more new unit line.

Skeletons. That are Saurians.

The absense of a skeletal castle in all of Irdya was bugging me. After all, why should a lich run around looking for dwarvish stonemasonry to use?

I wanted to decide on which idea to pixel.
1. Black stone walls, keep is made of bones Aztec-style
2. Normal castle is made of bones Aztec-style, keep is a circular magical symbol
I'm inclined to do 2 to be honest, but I think it might look a bit confusing.

Try 2 but make giant torches on keep boundaries rather than just a symbol, and maybe a rune covered floor instead of it. Might look better with keeps bigger than one hex.

Meanwhile i've tinkered a little bit with that saurian skeleton, might look a bit avian now, and i've thinned down some bones to look more like bones, there's still more to do in that field and some fun with the tail so that it looks more segmented, not like some weird armor.
Have a look and see what you can still correct.

Your tail looks better I think StDrake, but I like the nostrils I gave the skull in my version.

I was trying to do that undead castle of mine, but I didn't understand what I could do to make the skulls that make the walls look like ... skulls. Since that obviously isn't working, anyone have any idea what else an undead fortress could be made of? (no requests for something made of human flesh please)

Adding to Zero's comment, the HI is rather short and his armor is ill-defined and somewhat boxy.

Some advice: if you're going to be doing ne/nw frames, study the ones that have already been done/are being done. This will help you get a better concept of the desired angles and a better understanding of the anatomy that goes into this particular directional baseframe. Jetrel's recent elf ne-facing baseframes are especially worth studying (see below), since elves have pretty much the same anatomy and proportions as humans.

I envy Zerovirus' drawing skills.

Moving on to yet another thing (and yes I will attempt to bring up the infantry to UMC quality), I'm experimenting with more feet, facings and a good way of showing them.
This is literally just a flip of a sergeant. Neat trick making that plume though... :hmm:
