Midland add-on

Post by Belbog »

Hello,
I have re-published the Midland add-on for 1.8 version.
For the ones who do not know it: it is a tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien (you know: "Mid-land"...)
It has two maps: 1. whole Middle-earth map for 2-8 players and 2. small Gondor+Mordor map for 2 players. The maps are using a recruitment system based on the blueblaze's Empires add-on (which means that you recruit units in your free villages), though the large map has also a "classical" version (with fortresses).
If you would like maps with names of the cities and places etc., write me an email, and I will send it to you. (I think I'd rather should not directly publish it because of the GNU licence.) It really improves the atmosphere.

Reason: Removed coloration. Bolding is more than enough for the emphasis here.

One word for you: COPYRIGHT. Don't even bother sending people a map with all the names on, because of the copyright.
And if I'm wrong, I might as well delete the post.

It is o.k. to write a copyrighted map, as long as you don't publish it.

Yes, I'm afraid you're wrong.

The add-on as it stands is fine since it doesn't have any LotR names or anything, just the maps which are so simplistic that it would be silly to call them a copyright violation. Also if he wants to e-mail people maps with labels on them, why should anyone care? No reason.

And this is why we leave the moderation up to people who actually know how to do it Reepurr.

I think everyone in here (except zookeeper) needs to have a reread of the Posting Guidelines.
Belbog; please no colors.
Reepurr; no back seat modding.
Light Fighter... uh... read them because they were updated yesterday. :)
