I am also looking for this, and unless I am totally missing something, I am totally missing something. As in, I open library, I go to application support, and I find no folder having anything to do with Wesnoth. Have I installed my game incorrectly? I did as I was told (dragging icon to app folder), and the game works fine, but I would like to try to make a campaign, and from what I gather, my data is in the wrong place to do that. In order to get to any relevant Wesnoth files, I have to right-click on the app icon... this is apparently a non-ideal situation, according to what I read in the data-tree (or whatever) section of the Campaign instructions.
My question (sorry, long-winded, due to frustration) is how can I move this data so I have it in my library? I am kind of afraid to experiment with my Mac, since, unlike my old PC, it seems to resent it if the user takes liberties.

I don't know anything about Mac, but the data inside the application folder is different (and should be distinct) from your "userdata" folder - this should be inside of your home directory (this is what ~ stands for).
Maybe you looked at the system-wide library folder? Downloaded addons and saved games should be there, so maybe you can use the search function with the name of an addon or saved game to find it.

userdata (saves, add-ons, editor-created maps) is in ~/Library/Application Support/Wesnoth_1.8/
game data (mainline things (campaigns, units, images, macros)) is in /Applications/Wesnoth.app/Contents/Resources/
(Assuming this is Wesnoth 1.8, though 1.7/1.9 is the same. 1.6 and previous versions the userdata was in ~/Library/Preferences/Wesnoth_1.6/)

EDIT: Occurred to me that you might be looking at the wrong Library folder. It's the one in your personal folder, rather than the system folder (hence the '~').

It's now a bit different with OS X Lion (10.7). The Library folder is hidden by default, so you do not accidentally remove something that shouldn't be removed. To show the folder, op Terminal (/Applications/Utilities) and type "chflags nohidden ~/Library/". That command will show the Library folder, and allow to access whatever file you are looking for.
