I agree, if you shade more it will look less copy-pasted.

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising
This may be quibbling, since WINR, but now that it's clear we're looking at a sheath, it seems like the sword would be permanently stuck in the sheath. The sword seems to get wider along its length, but the mouth of the sheath is only as wide as the narrow part near the hilt.
Of course
A) it could be that the sheath gets wider but the sword doesn't.
B) WINR.
But it seemed like it might be worth mentioning in passing.

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising
Thanks. I've straightened the sword, so it should look less trapped. I added a bit of shadow to the chest, but I didn't really see the problem there. The belt and below is more of a problem, I think.

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising
If I may comment:
Should slowfoot's weapon's "stick" go slightly over the "ball" at the other end? I know this is unclear, huh... Shouldn't we see the stick and ball connect, that connection shouldn't be behind the ball. Do you understand what I mean?
Also: your females generally have pretty flat breasts. While it is not forcibly unrealistic, it sure is a change from standard fantasy art! Without being equipped with overblown breasts, I think they could still be a bit rounder, though.

Ah, yeah. It'll be fixed in the next release, which I hope will be tomorrow. Thanks.SFault wrote:Slowfoot's weapon hand is huge. His right elbow goes beneath his hipbone.
I see what you mean, but I think the connection would be in shadow... If I see what to do soon, I'll fix it. At least it gets cropped off in the little help-screen image, which is where most people would see this.Dixie wrote:Should slowfoot's weapon's "stick" go slightly over the "ball" at the other end? I was trying to downplay the sex aspect. I thought this was a better and subtler way than either making them bald & carbuncular or giving the females a lot more clothes than the males.Dixie wrote:Also: your females generally have pretty flat breasts. Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising
A final version of Nemesis for BMR (different from the ones in Trinity). I know the feathers are no good and will work on them more, but it takes time. This might not be the best size, but 500 X 500 looks like crap in game (she's so tiny). If I clip her left wing, it won't cover the dialog and might not look so strange.

Her pose seems, odd. It looks like she's leaning forward, if you know what I mean.doofus-01 wrote:Thanks. I've straightened the sword, so it should look less trapped. About the boobs, it has a reason why game characters with huge boobs become popular. (zero-suit-samus)

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising
I don't see Hera as leaning forward. Nemesis is leaning a bit, but the wings would cause that, I think. I realise huge boobs appeal to certain targetted demographics, but they cause members of other demographics to roll their eyes and walk away. I'm probably on thin ice as it is, no huge boobs.LightFighter wrote:Her pose seems, odd. It looks like she's leaning forward, if you know what I mean.

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising
The sword looks strange.
Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising

An example of how you should critique:
The sword has an unusually high level of contrast. It's almost completely black on one side. This makes it feel like it's very thick in the middle, which would mean a blunter blade. Was this intentional?
Be happy you didn't post this in art contribs,

(BTW doofus that critique is what I actually think).

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising
I see what you mean, I've broadened the grey area. I also faded the wing tip so that it doesn't completely obscure the text, I think it works well enough.Frogger5 wrote:The sword has an unusually high level of contrast. Or maybe she's stepping one someone's head. I think it's OK, she's not a generic unit.LightFighter wrote:One of Hera's legs is raised, like she is going to kick someone.
As long as I'm posting, I'll toss this up. I'm aware of the tangent with the head & sword, but don't know how to change that without starting over. This is a generic unit, and doesn't have any dialogue, so I'm not sure why I went with it. Mummy should probably be next, one of them does have a line or two.

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising
The upper sword's crossguard seems off perspective. If the blade were to match that perspective then it would be pointing further away from the viewer.
