Can somebody make a portrait of a fencer for me?
Hey, I noticed that the profile arts for the fencer, duelist, and master at arms don't look anything like the character sprites, and I was wondering if somebody could make a portrait of the main character in my campaign. Basically, he's a Duelist/Master at Arms on the black team, so black feather in his hat, black jacket, etc. Preferably I'd like it to look like the Master at Arms rather than the Duelist.
Re: Can somebody make a portrait of a fencer for me?
I always saw the Master at Arms as Chuck Norris with a hat and a sword and crazy clothes.
I can recommend this guy: http://forums.wesnoth.org/memberlist.ph ... e&u=106844
He made a portrait for my campaign, by volunteer, so chances are high that he might make something for you.
(I've only seen him do Goblins and that one Saurian, so I don't know if he can do human.)

Humans.. term is familiar, yes.
By the way Hulavuta, I have always been meaning to post a final version for that Saurian, not nice of me to have neglected it, so expect to hear back from me some time this week.

Hello,
Flats for your master of arms.. Forgot you were asking for one without a beard so if guess I will shave him while shading. Except that if you
have any concerns&suggestions let me know.
Oh and that's a nice portrait too!

Neck feels a little thick, and hands are a little big with relation to the head. A rule of thumb to remember is that the closed fist is roughly the same height as the distance between the chin and the bottom of the nose. In this case, the hands are relatively proportional to the rest of the body, so shrink them by 5 or 10% and enlarge the head by slightly more than that, that should take care of it. Otherwise, excellent work =)

yeah, notice how the fencers in the game don't have those kinds of shirts? the masters at arms have more of a badass trenchcoat thing, if you notice...

Keep in mind, this is supposed to represent a particular character, not the generic line, so some variety from the main portraits should be expected.
Re: Can somebody make a portrait of a fencer for me?
Bera, very nice line work! Contrary to TSI, I interpreted the "big hands" as having on very thick leather gloves meaning to protect the wrists and forearms.
His right hand seems not to be in position to have a good grip on the hilt. For most mortals, a firm grip require lining up the object with the knuckles of the last three fingers:
As your pose is pretty tight, this may require lots of redraw and consequently not worth the effort.

Took me a few days to respons as I wanted to prepare another portrait on RaustBD's directions. I agree about everything you say there TSI, good eye.
Thanks for all the encouraging remarks jkwchui, that was my initial plan with the gloves though now looking at them I can see I overdid it a bit
Meanwhile another take at him:
ps: No he's not playing violin but holding a rapier and a a nasty tiny handcrossbow if any of you are wondering
