Re: Ambush!: MiniTourney **LAST WEEK of R1** 3/22-3/29 (up-3/22)
So here's a match that I played v. Rigor, but we're not really sure what it is. It could either be the redo for the previously mis-played match, or it could be the semifinal match (since the redo apparently wouldn't matter anyways). I'll let Death decide
Whatever the case, here's the jist of it. Elvish Hero (Rigor) v. Lieutenant (me) on Howling Ghost Badlands. A dodgy fencer sneaks past the left side while a single spearman stays back to guard the villages. The loys attack on the right at day. Rigor had two chances at unlikely leader kills, but unfortunately for him, they did not work out. Thanks for the match!
And I am also obliged to show you a picture, so:
Rigor - The Elvish Army

(I wonder how much time and money this guy spent doing this)
ParadiseCity - The Fencer Attack

(Who is this guy???)

Re: Ambush!: MiniTourney **LAST WEEK of R1** 3/22-3/29 (up-3/22)
So, for my final game, I decided to make an effort.
Plk2 with dark adepts and friends:

vs
The Black Sword with woses and elves:

It was a bit anticlimatic in the end. I thought I did well but unfortunately luck turned against plk at some important points, otherwise we'd probably still be playing. Replay below.
(Oh and for anyone wondering, I ran out of time on one of the turns, thats why I didn't move the units near my keep, luckily it didn't cost me.)

edit: lahl I'm such a liar
. sorry updates have been slow and coming. [real life excuse here]
also, apologies to cackfiend. i was thinking about making a euro pool and an american pool, but i didn't end up doing it for some reason. oh well!
pro tip of the day: the next time you finish a jar of jalapeños, save the jar with all the juice, chop up some raw shrimp, cucumbers, and a red onion, and throw all that in there, then add some lemon juice and let the whole thing sit overnight.
the lemon juice + the vinegar that should be in the jala-juice will cook the shrimp overnight, leaving you with one tasty snack!

Re: Ambush!: MiniTourney **Semifinals** 4/2-4/7
I better post this before Death goes crazy
In an epic semi-final, I just managed to beat Rigor with an army of evil saurian sorcerors defeating the royal army of wesnoth(it's only the human necromancers who always seem to lose
).
I'll update properly tomorrow with pictures etc., now I need to sleep
EDIT :
Rigor - The Army of Wesnoth

vs
The Black Sword - The Saurian Horde

A very fun game, swapped sides the first night with both of us trying to grab villages as quickly as possible(well Rigor tryed to be tricky but it didn't work
). We'd both lost 3 units by the time we steadied up, though mine were a bit cheaper than his. Rigor then timed a very good attack on my left hand flank, certainly evening things up, perhaps gaining the advantage to set up the penultimate clash when our armies stopped dancing around and started killing each other, you'll have to watch the replay to see the finish

Re: Ambush!: MiniTourney **Semifinals** 4/2-4/7
And the match is in. Summarized in one word: spam (although epic spam it was). 10 Horsemen and 13 Cavalrymen! This is one of the few games in which I haven't made a mage, and only one spearman.
The game progressed as such: A single horseman ventured to attack a footpad on turn 3, and then the rest of the cavalry charged ahead and didn't look back. The cavs superior mobility when compared to the pierce-wielding knalgans made this game abundant with village stealing. Because of this, I was able to field a cav or horsie once per turn, and eventually overrun plk2 with the sheer amount of them.
Thanks to plk2 for a very interesting match.
The replay ends shortly after plk2 surrenders, becuase the ai leader retreated to a mountain village, and I didn't feel like getting him off of it
.
I should have time to post pics later, but now there is yardwork to be done
.
EDIT: I guess this makes the finals tbs v. me on silverhead with me as p2?

Re: Ambush!: MiniTourney **Semifinals** 4/2-4/7
Wow.
First of all, congratulations guys, those were two very entertaining matches.
On one, there was the fast and furious lizard vs. human duel between Rigor and The Black Sword, with both sides rushing across to the other side on the first night...
and then watching plk2's "robins" repeatedly corner Paradise City's horses was a little like watching Braveheart meets Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.
Well done.
And now, as if that wasn't enough, get this- both games end on the same turn!!! (turn 24) just... lol.
However, I'm giving p2 honors to The Black Sword, since plk2's leader was still alive after the turn. Proper update coming tonight (for real this time!), and the finals will be The Black Sword vs. Paradise City with TBS as player2 on Silverhead Crossing.
Good luck!

Re: Ambush!: MiniTourney ***FINALS FINALS FINALS***
those games were really entertaining although i gave up my advantage with one big hopeful attack. i dont remember when i have been playing tricky this time, maybe, one time, village stealing when tbs didnt expect to see a cavalry so early, but thats it
i just wanted to ask if there is going to be another tournament with you as our host, im already addicted to playing matches with a theme
so while we will have to wait for the finals, i suggest we start thinking about nice themes and/or looking for some players who would like to play (before we have to wait again for some weeks).

Re: Ambush!: MiniTourney ***FINALS FINALS FINALS***
okay! that's great news! good luck to both finalists and I hope to be able to catch the match.
In the meantime, here's a modest tournament sum-up. I would've liked to do more regular content for this tournament, but c'est la vie. Hope you enjoy it, and I hope all the players had a good time. You guys really went above and beyond to keep it interesting, civil, and moving along from start to finish. In short, I barely had to do anything, thanks!
So without further ado about adoing nothing...
