Re: Majors Art
The tauranid and the behemoth are very similar. Not sure if that's what you're going for.
The reaver looks awesome! His legs are a little short, but as he's an artificial construct, it may not be nessecary to lengthen them.
Nice.

Re: Majors Art
Yeaaaaahhhh... The Tauranid kinda just developed that way. It wasn't intentional.
I think the Giant Reaver is one of my better sprites.

Re: Majors Art
Very nice work- from the look of the Reaver, though, it seems you don't have much professional knowledge about the human skeleton
Human ribcages do not look like that. Ribcages in general don't form bottom-pointing triangles, to my knowledge. And seriously, the spine is not that thick
Besides that, though, you have a neat sprite going there. Shoulders are a bit broad, but that's probably intended. Nice rust effect.

I think thats supposed to be armor, not bone.

Edit: Apologies, you are correct, I didn't realize what you meant. The shape of the ribcage is wrong, it gets wider closer the the bottom, not smaller.

Re: Majors Art
The top of the ribcage and the part where it is smaller at the top is hidden behind his brest plate because that is wider at the top. Also this is an artificial construct, made by a necromancer, so is not neccecerialy anatomically corect.
The ribcage does narrow down a little at the bottom.

Re: Majors Art
Regardless, people will expect correct anatomy. What you have looks like you were trying to achieve realistic anatomy and failed, not that you were intentionally trying to avoid correct anatomy. Attached is a 2-minute rough drawup of what I might expect. It's not good, or even finished, but it should give you the right idea.

True, but if this gets out onto the add ons list, you'll have to tell everyone that.Major wrote:The top of the ribcage and the part where it is smaller at the top is hidden behind his brest plate because that is wider at the top. It's best to get things like this correct, cus, we are humans after all...

Re: Majors Art
Much improved; however, the far arm looks bent strangely, as if his elbow was reverse jointed. I again suggest using my version for that.
The ribcage is especially nice, but you don't have to have a ribcage
Feel free to interpose whatever armor you want there. That was just a rough mockup.

Re: Majors Art
I think to balance it up, it would be best to have some armor on the ribcage.

Re: Majors Art
The original version looked quite imbalanced, to me, like it was too top-heavy and would easily fall over backwards. And the anatomy was a bit skewed. I'm not sure what you see in it that's better

Re: Majors Art
A lich/magic user's anatomical construct doesn't have to obey the laws of physics or anatomy, it's powered by magic.
It just has to look cool.
