One month later, any hope of any work done?

Uhh, I think this project is pretty much dead. Neither of them seems to be working on it currently and I doubt they'll return to it.

Re: Modern Combat: Beta2.75 Released!
A one-month hiatus is far too short to pronounce a project dead, particularly when it occurs over an exam/holiday period.

Yeah, I suppose you're right.
I hope so.

Ah, interesting...
Just checked, yep, you're right. That'll be interesting if it ever gets completed. It's a huge project.

So say I wanted to help to get this project completed (I am a software engineer straight out of B.Sc.H Comp Sci) what do I need to do?
I seem to recall reading wesnoth was c and xml based.

Re: Modern Combat: Beta2.75 Released!
The real 'core' stuff is C++ but all the scenarios, campaigns, maps, themes, and just about everything you'd care to modify is in wesnoth's own scripting language, WML. If you're interested in contributing to this project specifically, you'd need to contact the author, PK, to get his permission. (well, technically, it's all under GPL so you could just take all his code and do what you want with it, but that's just not right, legal or not.)
Re: Modern Combat: Beta2.75 Released!
I need help with this era, as I cannot launch the game in Local Mode. Every time I try, it tells me that "default income and gold needed" or something, and then it automatically ends the game before any side can make a move. I never altered the amount of gold or income, so I'm confused as to what to do. Can someone help me?
I babysit. It pays better. And don't tell me that was irrelevant. It was a hippopotamus.

I'm sure this addon probably has numerous bugs, after not being maintained for several months...
Re: Modern Combat: Beta2.75 Released!
well, if an addon is not maintained it will still not get bugs out of nowhere.Captain_Wrathbow wrote:I'm sure this addon probably has numerous bugs, after not being maintained for several months...
what about playing the addon with map defaults setMe_ wrote:I need help with this era, as I cannot launch the game in Local Mode. Re: Modern Combat: Beta2.75 Released!
I know. But it gets OOS errors in MP and there are a few other smaller things that don't work properly, so I was saying that since it hasn't been worked on lately, I bet there are other bugs as well that haven't been fixed.Mabuse wrote:well, if an addon is not maintained it will still not get bugs out of nowhere.

Re: Modern Combat: Beta2.75 Released!
Try giving the factions a recruit list and the leaders 50% defence on castle, so you can play standard scenarios and random maps. Oh, and change the unit movetypes so they can cross the necessary terrains. (shallow water moves for infantry etc.)
Yes I've been tinkering with a friend, it's really fun

Re: Modern Combat: Beta2.75 Released!
Hey Psycho some time ago, I grabbed some of the Modern Combat era images to use them in an era but in the end I dropped the project out of boredom and that it wasn't quite the way quite the way I wanted it to be at first.
The thing is that I made some animations for some the units, you want them?

Re: Modern Combat: Beta2.75 Released!
No thank you. I can't even add them in right now, if I wanted to, due to Golbeeze having the .pbl and when I get the .pbl A_Guy and I have to fix all the bugs and problems before even thinking of working on anything aesthetic or balancy.
