Unit List

Post by Consumptus »

Hi, I'm relatively new to Wesnoth.

I'm wondering if there's a list of units out there that is updated with all the eras.
It would be helpful if I knew what leveled to what, and so on.

Thanks

http://www.wesnoth.org/units/1.8/C/mainline.html

for 1.7.9

http://www.wesnoth.org/units/1.6/C/mainline.html

for 1.6.5

They're the same except for the drakes and some dwarf graphics, i think.

There are some other changes. Glider has 40% evasion in places where it used to have 30%, for instance. And trolls are weaker to fire. I think there are others, but I can't remember them at the moment.

Gonna add on to this. Is there a way to see a list of the units used in the UMCs or has that not been done. Also is there a list of what UMCs use what Eras?

I couldn't find this to be the case. Is there something I'm missing?

hrm, well, perhaps they aren't. I just heard someone else saying they were changed; I never really verified it myself... There is at least one other non-cosmetic change, though, unless I'm really misremembering...

These are the MP balance related changes between 1.6 and 1.7.10+svn in changelog:
  • Increased the XP required to advance for the Orcish Assassin from 30 to 34.
  • Changed the cold resistance of the naga line from -20% to 0%.
  • Made units with the 'healthy' trait always rest heal but take normal damage from poison.
  • Changed the Drake Glider movetype to give 40% defense almost everywhere.

This has been mentioned as a planned move but seems not to have been implimented.

units.wesnoth provides a list of what the units are in the mainline campaigns and user made MP eras. it does not have a list of units for the user made campaigns such as FoaP or IftU. You can see the units for most of BMR however, because it says that it uses AE. None of the other user made campaigns list a specific era that they use, or they do not use one, instead using units specific to that campaign. Does my question make sense? I want to be able to view a list of units like units.wesnoth but that has information for the user made campaigns at least the stable ones.

I think that the units.wesnoth.org pages are generated automatically by a script of some sort.

Maybe it would be possible to use this to generate pages similar to those but using the info of UMC campaigns from you own local Wesnoth copy. I would probably take some adapting of the script to do this though.

It has lists for all UMCs that applied.
No UMCs have been doing that lately.

I just noticed this. I didn't put Archaic Era on units.wesnoth.org or apply for anything. Either there is a script that reads era-type add-ons or someone else put it there.

As for seeing all of the advancement paths in a given campaign: If you run the campaign in debug mode, you can see all the advancements in the help screens.
BfW 1.12 supported, but active development only for BfW 1.13/1.14: Bad Moon Rising | Trinity | Archaic Era |
| Abandoned: Tales of the Setting Sun

As far as I know, the eras/campaigned are grabbed (either auto or manually, not sure of this) every once in a while from the add-ons server. However, the devs can alter things if they want. I remember soliton saying he'd just disable Wesband from the list, since it there wasn't much in the era worth listing.

How would you run the campaign in debug mode?
