Well, the icon is a Borg-ish girl with a castle in the background. Who wouldn't want to click on it?

The next update will feature Dead Water, and have a Merfolk dude. So maybe this borg icon will be around for 2 or 3 weeks before it swims with the fishes. But each update also adds a nice new loading screen into the mix...

Well, playing the beta version of Ep 2 I'm delighted by the speed improvements and I haven't had a crash yet. I've also had to exit with the home menu and love that it saves my game now. WOOOHOOOO! This update rocks. I wish I could get my progress on Northern Rebirth carried over to this version so i could compare apples to apples but oh well. I think I just need to keep that campaign on the PC.

Haven't seen any new bugs, so good work Kyle.

Argh, Episode 2 was rejected today for detecting low memory and suggesting that the user reset their device... Apparently you're not allowed to provide helpful suggestions, it is better if the user has a slow game that crashes, at least they won't blame Apple!

Resubmitted...

How irritating! They really should put that in the submission criteria up-front.

Bummer :/ that means about another 2 weeks before they approve it, now it looks like the update will be in 2010.

Hey, I am poking in to say you did a good job but I have some suggestions for the game
1. The game gets.vvverrrryyyy slow with many units on the map, perhaps there should be a version that doesn't have idle animations or the best music so that it runs faster
2. Something I didn't like was that you can only see a small part of the map which is endlessly annoying for scouting units, maybe you could add a zoom option?

I realize that these will take a while and you're still developing the game but I'd like to see them eventually be put in. Thanks! :D

From another thread on this forum.
KylePoole wrote: ...5) Zoom has to wait until the framerate is improved, or it will run even slower if it has to draw 4x the stuff at 1/2 scale...

Also, http://wesnoth.kylepoole.com for some suggestions on getting 1.0 to run a bit more smoothly (specifically by turning off idle animations  ). You'll also find info on the update which has already been submitted to Apple (and resubmitted after a minor setback).

i was wondering what will happen to the iphone branch in the future. will there ever be an attempt to backport some of the performance/memory improvements in trunk? maybe even merge them?

This may sound stupid, but I just want to know. Why does Wesnoth cost 5 bucks for the ipod but is free for PC/Mac? If you're going to pay for it, shouldn't it be the other way around? Anyway, Wesnoth on ipod touch is fantastic, and what is 5 bucks compared to Wesnoth? I'll have to check out this ipod version of my favorite game.

This was discussed earlier in the thread. Essentially you're paying for the work that KylePoole has done in porting the game to iPhone.

The five bucks is so that you can get it through the iTunes store, and not have to jailbreak your iphone or ipod.
