Random Terrian ideas
Yes, more random terrain ideas. For mainline Wesnoth since they deal with the editor.
Firstly, what about a scatter tool like the paint and fill tools. It would randomly place the selected tile on the map you are working on. Perhaps the brush-size could control the saturation per-howevermany tiles of the type selected, I haven't worked out the finer points. It would help with the way I make maps, also be useful for designing larger maps.
Secondly, you have Random, Random Desert, Random Winter and Random Swamp, how about Random Cave?
The maps produced would all be underground and so no change depending on day time, also, you could have an option to select how cavernous or labarynthine your map would be, kind of like the costal-island thing you have with other maps. Since you have a roads between castles option, it should be quite easy to ensure that you don't produce too many impossible random cave maps.

I like the scatter fill idea. Not that useful for the majority but as a lover of epic maps I could definitly put that to use.
And actually if the map editor ran on WML... that C(ould)ABD.

I think there is already a scatter tool,
in the map editor you have to select tiles with the selection tool
under edit there is a point "randomize tiles in selction" wich scatters the selected tiles.

There's a cave generator engine that's used in some mainline scenarios (HttT's SoF, and the SoF campaign's gathering materials scenario), now we just need to get someone who really knows how it works to tie it into the editor and MP random map generators! He he.
