OK, I'll find the flag thread. This is the lightning trident.

I'd probably say it could use a few more frames, and some brighter centres to the lightning - it should be near-pure white in the centre.

The animation is nice with the lightning turning on, but the glow can easily get annoying fairly quickly, as it will just flicker on the map once the player discovers it.

Just to illustrate what i said about how to draw lightning: http://www.wesnoth.org/images/sshots/wesnoth-1.6-4.jpg

Delfador's lightning attack is a very nice demonstration.

I'd like to contribute the knapsack item I've made (with a large amount of help from fmunoz). Is that possible? I think it's a useful item, but it obviously isn't used in any mainline campaigns.

Hope it's okay if I post this in this thread.

The sprite quality is good, and as a container, it could represent a whole host of things (pouch of herbs, thief's equipment, messenger bag containing a map to the next scenario, etc, etc). This should definitely be considered for mainline.

*blink blink* cool! I feel useful. :-)

... since there's been no objection to me posting one item here, I've got another: an attempt at a new version of the bones item. Purpose: trying to make it less fuzzy + a better perspective, as per comments in this thread.

Upper left is with a green overlay in an attempt to make it look moss-covered/overgrown. If it seems interesting/worth it to the general public, I'd also make a modification that's partially buried in sand.

The pngs without context:

You've changed the perspective, and I don't think it matches the view of other objects in Wesnoth now--it's like we're looking at it from more directly overhead. Also, the added arm and leg bones make it feel too orderly/too intact, imo--the original image gave the impression of being partially buried, which was cool.

I like the new skull and pelvis a lot, but the ribcage strikes me as oversized...or, by comparison to the original sprite, the rest of the body seems undersized.

The moss is a great idea, but seems maybe too uniform?

This fellow has died very ... neatly, hasn't he? Ignoring the size and perspective issues, I think the bones would be even more useful if they were less complete, slightly more scattered, and otherwise showed signs of disturbance after death, while still keeping the thing recognisable as a human skeleton. As a bonus, applying such changes would make the possible anomolies in the skeleton's size and perspective less of an issue.

My preference is still for the original, but I see what you mean by the 'fuzziness'. You did a good job keeping the bones to a sprite's proportions, however. If you can emulate the original's angle and keep the bones the right size, that should do it.

I will give adding signs of disturbance and changing the perspective a shot later today or tomorrow, but it would be helpful to know which perspective people think would be better.

Here's a comparison with a number of wesnoth items. What should be my guide? They're all different...

The old perspective is better.

If you really want to fix something, we could use some work on our stone monolith graphics; they're currently very flat.
