Names for types of high level mages
I'm working on a project that requires level 4 and 5 mages and need to come up with some types of mages. I need names that fit into the tree, so it should be a natural progression up to level 5.
Anyone have some ideas?

Silver Mage into Golden Mage into Dimensional Mage (Time Mage)?
Mage Of Light into Sun Mage into Sun Archmage?

Re: Names for types of high level mages
Hey, I really like those. Except that I think Sun Mage and Golden Mage are so good they should take the top slots. I only have one suggestion of my own at present:Zigg wrote:Great Mage into Mage Of Fire (Fire Mage, Fire Magi)?
Silver Mage into Golden Mage into Dimensional Mage (Time Mage)?
Mage Of Light into Sun Mage into Sun Archmage?
[Edits]
Great Mage -> Pyromancer
Silver Mage -> [Quicksilver Mage] -> Golden Mage
or Silver Mage -> Golden Mage -> [Diamond Mage]
Mage of Light -> [Star Mage] -> Sun Mage
I'll come back and edit this post if I think of something good to go in the gaps.

Re: Names for types of high level mages
For the level 5 Great Mage, perhaps Elder Mage? I seem to remember that's what Delfador was as level 5. Not that we need to stick to that! He was also extremely old.
My suggestions:
Silver Mage -> Mercury Mage -> Gold Mage
Silver Mage -> Shadow Mage -> Phase Mage ((EDIT: Not suggesting two lines off of Silver, just two naming variants.))
Mage of Light -> Enlightened/Illuminated Mage -> Sun Mage

Mage of Light -> Enlightened/Illuminated Mage -> Sun Mage

Nice! I like some of these names.
I'm still open to more possibilities, but even these will help. Thanks!

Re: Names for types of high level mages
What about
Great Mage to Ultimate Mage(or Nova Mage)
Silver Mage to Platinum Mage and then Quantum/Reality Mage
Mage of Light to Solar/Sun Mage and then Light Conductor?
Just these units make the campaign sound like something really sweet.
And don't use Psychotic Mage, I already took that.
EDIT: I'm not putting up any line splits, just pointing out an extra possible name for certain spots.

Current Project:

That second campaign will probably become a book instead, or a movie or a game or something. Sorry guys.

Re: Names for types of high level mages
Arch Mage-> Great Mage -> Elder Great Mage
Silver Mage -> Moon Mage-> Elder Moon Mage
Mage of Light -> Sun Mage-> Elder Sun Mage
The word Elder could be replaced by Arch or whatever fits.
It might look borring, but I think it is less confusing and would be nice for storyline "circle of elders" or so.
Maybe for campaign: Advancement is only possible if you find an item first (Wand of the Elder?)
I am looking forward to see the stats and sprites.

Re: Names for types of high level mages
I really like Moon Mage for the lvl 3 silver - it captures the essence of the unit very well, I think.

Re: Names for types of high level mages
there is already a mage after the great mage. You just have to tweak one thing in the games files, the elder mage is an existing unit but was only used for Delfador so you could use that instead of making a new unit. Besides, the lightning attack is pretty cool.

Re: Names for types of high level mages
But the elder mage is a little bit weaker with the magic attack than the great mage (14-4 compared to 16-4) I think this guy is making more powerful versions of the mages, so that wouldn't help.

The attack of the elder mage can easily be changed.

Re: Names for types of high level mages
One thing that i have always wondered is why mages are the only group to have a level 4 at all in default era.

Just peeking in to vote for the Dimensional Mage (really captures imagination), and to put forth my own Celestial Mage..
