Add a personal Blacklist to the game like the Friend list!

Post by Nubie »

From what I understand all registered users are *thick* named in the lobby?

I suggest there to be a possiblity to

1: See if the players joining your game are registered or not.

And 2: Be able to add people to blacklists that leave for no reason to often.

This is really pissing people off and while I in general HATE "blacklists" I belive that personal blacklists are needed in Wesnoth. Every guy I talk to agrees, hope ya'll agree to.

Well, the ignore list acts like a blacklist, as you can tell who is it you like and dislike along with you friends list. See in Preferences --> Multiplayer.
Take a breath.

Efforts have been made in the past to call out those players, to blacklist them so that people know not to play or associate with them, but with so many players, I'd say it might be hard since most people probably would not even see this.

People can always change their nick and there are always new players that you don't know yet. You are better off finding people you do like to play with and building your friends list, which shows at the top of the list of players and will let you quickly find people you know you like to play with.

I remember this Blacklist thingies from Warcraft 3 (Wc3Banlist being the tool of choice there).
It was ambitious and pushed with much effort:
Local banlists, banlists you could share with your friends and multiple server-wide banlists maintained by trustees.
But at the end of the day not only does the universe produce bigger and better idiots, it also produces more of them than you could ban.

So what does this teach us? :eng:
Dont try to keep the bad people away; make the good people come to you.
