Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
Hmm, not a big deal but the only other thing I have noticed now is that the bend in her vest on her left side seems a bit odd. It seems to come to a point farther out to the side of her body then would seem natural, as the angle she is seen at means the curve would be a bit softer because the high point of her breast is to the left and so the cloth is just following the curves.
Again no big deal, and great work on this one!

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
Well, see you're still working on this.
and you've certainly gotten better since I've been around. Good job!

I don't rock the world.
How can I rock the world if I don't understand all of it?

Thanks.
This is her sprite. I don't think the tattoos are all that recognizable, but the portrait and sprite show up at the same time, so maybe it's good enough. Maybe not.

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
If you didn't mention they were tattoos, I'd have thought it was _blood_ actually. There's something (a lot?) lacking in the skin's and the tattoo's shading and lighting that make them look like broken skin, or something.doofus-01 wrote:Final version, or at least the version that will go into the next release. The tattoos could probably use some more detail, but I need better hardware (or better vector skills).

It's not supposed to be blood, but it is supposed to resemble it a bit.
Sort of like this.
Nothing like this.
Maybe more details will do it.

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
Tattoos are generally not quite as opaque as that - the skin color does show through a bit. I think that is the main problem with them
Also, the shading ends at the tattoos in your pic, which they shouldn't.

OK, hopefully this is less blood-like.

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
Nice work! I love the eyes
Moving away from the tattoos for a minute, I think there's something a little off with her left arm--I think the forearm is too long, and possibly also it's that the arm transitions very quickly from being rather muscular to a petite lady's hand
Anyway, great job!

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
Thanks. Now that you mention it, that hand did look misplaced. I made it a little more sturdy and fiddled with a few more things. I think this is the last post for this one, it's getting boring.
Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
The tattoos look much better know.
But still, a pair of question. Isn't the hand a bit too small? And is she greeting someone? It seems that to me. If she is protecting from light (the other option that comes my mind), I think that the hand should be less perpendicular to the face and the shadow of it would be on her face.

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
A good point, there is no real discernible light source affecting the hand, or the hand's shadow on the face. Given the shadow on her right side from her vest and on her left arm, I would think there would be at least a little bit of one.
Though I guess the placement makes it hard to tell if the hand is just in front of and to the side of her head or just on the side of her head.

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
Her hand is supposed to be to the side of her head, not in front. I shortened that arm a bit, not so sure it makes it look further away. I may just redraw that arm, though that will be a while.
For some reason, this made me notice that her right shoulder was atrophied.

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
It still looks like her left forearm is tilted forward, probably because of the shading on the elbow.
Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
But what is she doing with her hand, then? Trying to listen far things?

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again
The hand was going to be holding a fireball, but I decided it was too much. And her hand was too close to her head anyway - she'd catch her hair on fire. I'm going to redraw it when I have time.
