Awesome stuff! I think the two guys are perfect now.

Re: Loyalist Portrait Series
Prior to revisions of the bowman and woodsman, here's the inked longbowman with flats. As you can see I'm going for a "mostly leather" armour, but if the boss wishes me to I can switch his leather pauldrons and vambraces for steel ones (for a better math of the sprite). Though I don't like the idea, as this would make him as tough as the swordsman, whose armour stats are a lot better.

the bowman's chainmail looks pretty perfect now!
take care that you don't burn out over all those little fiddles with the woodsman and bowman! even if they aren't perfect in every regard you'll have to let them go at one point.
and no, you don't have to change the longbowman's armour material because of me, it is fine as it is. he has a really nice posture and design! only the mouth looks a bit cartoony.

The low level bowmen look great to me =D
Kitty, if you're happy with them, i'll get them committed. It would be great to get them in before the next RC.

The longbowman looks really great.
I'm just wondering, are you still intending to make a separate portait for the master bowman?
I think that the portrait for the longbowman would fit the master bowman just fine since they are very similar. The only real difference between the two is seniority/experience and possibly slightly better quality equipment (I'm more than fairly certain that the master bowman still uses a longbow). That would free you up to work on portaits for units more in need of individual portraits such as the horseman/cavalry lines.

Re: Loyalist Portrait Series
Kitty: rest assured, the last changes of the low-levels will be reaally light. I'll especially avoid further changes to the woodsman's tunic, as its textured material is a pain to flatten & reshape.
Neoskel: I still plan to make a masterbowman portrait. To me it'll be an interesting variation of the bowmen line, with richer clothing, so I look forward to it. But it won't delay the cavalry units, as I'm already working on their linework.

Final Bowman & Woodsman. Won't touch them anymore this time, both can be committed.
I'm also posting the inked Masterbowman - if that's what he'll be. As Neoskel said, the longbowman is fitting enough for lvl 2 & 3 and now that I'm done, I find that he has something special. Maybe it'll be better to simply keep him as an extra character in the trunk ?

I think it's too good a portrait to rarely, if ever, be seen.LordBob wrote:Maybe it'll be better to simply keep him as an extra character in the trunk ?

Well since you've already got him done, might as well use him right? Ranged units do tend to wind up pretty badass through the course of campaigns anyways, might as well use a badass portrait for them right?LordBob wrote:Maybe it'll be better to simply keep him as an extra character in the trunk ?

Aye, but he has made a spare or two before, and if he wants to do it, why say no?

Re: Loyalist Portrait Series
He looks fine - awesome - as a Master Bowman, personally I'd prefer to see him in trunk as a generic than waiting for use as a character portrait when MBs (and ranged-heavy non-mage leaders in general) are fairly rare.
I'll commit them when I get back from University.
EDIT: committed.

Neither blood, nor ketchup and not lipstick either. It's simply Red Stuffwoodmouse wrote:Hmm, I just want to ask, is the red/brown stuff in the bowman's shirt blood?

As to the masterbowman, I'll follow the general advice and make him a generic portait.

Re: Loyalist Portrait Series
the final woodsman and bowman turned out really nice
and the masterbowman promises to look great, too. i like the filigree patterns you use for him.
but while his face is seen nearly straight ahead, his nose seems to be drawn from the side... and watch out for the tangent the head of the arrow and the edge of the helmet create. wether move the arrow a tad to the right or left or differenciate them very clearly by colour.

Re: Loyalist Portrait Series
Masterbowman flats.
The way I see him, he'd have whichever amount of armour is required underneath his tunic. The idea is to have a classy high level instead of an armoured can.
Though I might switch the current colour scheme for a red cape and a more neutral tunic, depending on the general feeling.
In the meantime, I'll be shading the longbowman
