Apart from the translation file, it's also posible to translate some entries of the wesnoth.desktop file, which is under icons/ directory. You can find two examples of translations already done, basque and catalan ones (in latest CVS).

Could you please explain me (as to a newbie in Linux) the meanings of:

Name
GenericName
Comment

The "Name" is a text at desktop icon. When and where are the other two used? (It is not important, I am just very curious.)

In Windows, is the localised version of "Name" used for desktop shortcut / menu item?

Well GenericName is a description of the programm. In KDE for example you can have GenericName (Name) or the other way round. So you can have "Strategy Game (Battle for Wesnoth)".

The description shows up, when you hover over the icon and wait a little bit. It's just one kind of tooltip.

Thanks! I have tried it, but probably never waited long enough...
