Re: First sprite
That is a fairly accurate assessment, as you could have easily looked at your old posts and found your previous thread. Most especially since it was only 7 posts back in your history.fuzz579 wrote:the tone of your post suggested you wern't amused by my blatant memory loss and breakage of forum policy, I didnt really think you were mad but defidently not happy.
As to your head, part of the problem is that the mouth is so big that it effectively hides the head behind it, making it hard for you to find a position which portrays the head well enough to indicate to the user the direction the sprite is facing. I would suggest scaling down the mouth, or drawing the head so that one eye shows to the side of the mouth and is focused towards the south-east (thus providing the user with a way to easily grasp in what direction the unit s facing).

Re: First sprite

Re: First sprite
Not too bad at all really, though the eye being so small means that it may get lost in the background, especially if the creature was on forest or plains (since all the green would overwhelm the bit of red).
You could always draw a bit more of the head behind where the eye is in that image, possibly turning it just a bit more so that the mouth is more to the right. This would allow the viewer to get a better perspective on the head itself and make the eye stand out.

Re: First sprite
Hmm, that is better, I would try to put it on the stalk at this point and see what it looks like with everything together.

Re: First sprite
ok I thinned the body a bit and gave the head less of a arching eyebrow:

Re: First sprite
It seems to me that leg/stalk part of the body is facing strait towards you and the head is going right (his left). I like this head that you made more although I think it should be a little lighter, or it would be darker than the rest of the body.

I also think that the leg/stalk is out of proportion compared to the head.
Nice spriting

Re: First sprite
Tada, now you can see both the mouth and the eye working together to help make the sprite face to the south-east.
It is a bit on the small side, but I assume that is intentional. My only other question is what is the little bulge in the middle of the stalk?
I agree with mnewton1 that the body does appear to be facing straight out, but I just assumed that of the three roots that can be seen, there is a fourth one on the unseen side, thus making the stalk round. This would mean that it effectively has no front, and therefore it is not an issue.

Re: First sprite
I had it with three toes but I guess four toes is fine so I added a fourth toe and made the body better:

Re: First sprite
That works either way, but I was saying that you were welcome to leave it at three toes as, even though mnewton1 thinks the body faces to the front, if the body is round then it has no front. So three toes, two toes, four toes, five toes. Any will work, whatever you feel looks appropriate.fuzz579 wrote:I had it with three toes but I guess four toes is fine so I added a fourth toe and made the body better:
