Cyberpunk Era

Post by Evilninjamonkey »

Right now I am working on sprites for a cyberpunk era. So far I have three of them. Once I finish getting at least 6 unit sprites per team, I plan on working on the stats. Here's my sprites so far... as I complete more of them, I will post more... I know I have to fix the sword sheathe on the street samurai. Any other feedback would be appreciated though.

I am thinking so far of making it two factions.

Law enforcement

Consists of military and police type units
Lawful

Outcasts (not really liking the name, but don't have a good one yet)
Has some of the standard sci-fi/ cyberpunk type units- street samurai, hired guns, lowlife type thieves
Chaotic

Since you mentioned you are doing an era, how exactly are you breaking it down? What will the different factions be (consist of, be called, etc)?

Well, i'm no designer, but the heads look like they're made separately from the bodies. Otherwise, good idea and such.

I'd also try to darken the SS' Trenchcoat a little (remove some of the grey), just to see how it looked. i'd think it would look slightly more... vicious... With the red eyes and such.

Also, on the Shotgun thug, you may want to play around with making him hold the shotgun a bit more like a rifle. It looks good as is, but you catch my drift..

As for the "Outcasts", you could have any sort of "Underground"-ish (new word) type name. Y'know, you may even be able to use some random word, like "Fringe" or something.

Outcasts could be turned into any of the following...

Rejects
Outlaws
Vagrants
Fugitives
Forsaken
Outsiders
Pariahs
Derelicts

...and so on and so forth. Today's words brought to you by Merriam-Webster online, your one stop synonym shop.

Call it liking what i proposed, but i'm for the darker SS. He looks evil as can be, and i'd imagine him to dress rather dark.

Great work, Keep it up!

Seems like an idea that would have been proposed before, i'm just sure you're actually serious.

Now, to learn WML while i'm out next week..

Please try not to double post, as posting multiple times in a row is not allowed. You can use the edit button to edit your existing post and add on additional files or comments that you may have had while you are waiting for a response. If you have reached the attachment limit for your post when you are putting up sprites, then that is the exception to make posts in sequence.

That being said, where are you getting your heads from that they are so distinct and the bodies of the figures are so dull?

Does Look a bit like that, no?

If you're doing it yourself, Carry on Wayward son. You're good at this..

Err, at least better than what i've seen. I've yet to see much, so i dunno if there is any really, really beastly art out there.

EDIT: I'd say for the lawl, the assassins need some kind of insane mask. Like V, except Guy Fawkes is Way too overdone. Get what i'm trying to say?

(sorry for my incoherent writing, it's late, and i've got exams. Bad time to find BfW. [censored] makes you feel like a leech if you just sit and play it..)

I am getting my heads from the original sprites, while the bodies are my work. I am unsure of how to get the distinct style of the standard sprites in my bodies, if anyone would be interested in editing one or two to show me how to do it, that would be great.

Last incoherent reply until tomorrow (yay!)

Looking at the officials, it seems like there is a darker border around the edges, and a bit more contrast (i'm sure i just misused contrast, but i'm also sorta sure i'm at least partially understandable) in between the body parts.

Which is fine. I was not accusing you of anything, I was just curious as they tend to stand out as two separate pieces. If you want to match the bodies of mainline, you could always cut off some of the parts (legs, arms, whatever) and alter them to fit what you need them to do. This is how many people get into spriting. But this also makes their sprites lose a bit of uniqueness, so feel free to do as you see fit.

You are free to judge for yourself in that regard. ;)

Oh yeah. You're better than most of the people (well, i looked if you had more than three or four) that sprite. All you need to do is work on making the body parts look like they have less of a .... semitransparent film over them.

Good ideas and stuff. If i can somehow help let me know. I can't code or sprite, but if you suck with english, that's about all i'm good for. unless there is some magical easylearn WML place. *looks around*
