It's really hard to see any definition. You'll need to lighten it up.

Velensk wrote:k, I'll follow your advice in some parts, but I think you are acting under a misinterptretation. Black furs arn't like dwarves, they are small, and thus slower than the other warg, but they arn't sturdy. Blackfurs are steath hunters. Just for rough comparison.

Warrior Wolf
cost 17 (maybe going down to 16)
mp 6
wolf-foot
hp 38
10-2 attack

Black-fur
cost 21ish
mp 5
wolf-foot
nightstalk
hp 34
5-3 backstab
Oh, right. I thought you were going for a tank-ish type of unit to replace the Wose. But that would be the bear ofcourse.

If you're wondering why I haven't done anything lately, that's because I've got a lot of school stuff hindering me. I'll really try to get back at this, 'cause I'm enjoying it alot.

1) its not 72*72
2) its too dark
3) its got smudgy edges, wesnoth units are all very sharply cearly contoured
4) its background is white, not transparent
5) its got no shadow

Well, I was working on the blackfur, and one of the artistic members of my family watched me and asked what I was doing, and I told her. She seemed interested by the idea and asked to have a try at it. So she started working on it when I was doing something else, and she's just finished it, and it certainly looks better than mine. I will relay any feedback given to her, but in the meantime, I'm going to go and see how it looks ingame. The only problem I could see was that it looked a bit like a rat.

Yah, it's too skinny. I know that you're going for the sneaky backstabbing type, but those can be a little bit more buff. I'd also give him some more highlights, try to define his fur a bit more and all.

Looks good otherwise.

Teamcolour placement is a bit akward though.

Here is the relayed image based off your complaints, but she said she did not understand them fully, and asked if you could elaborate.

M'kay. I think he's buff enough at this moment.

I meant that it would also be a good idea to define his furr some more, by using highlights for example. As of now it looks as he's wearing a tight, black leotard. If you add a bit more texture to his fur (have some hairs stink out for example) this problem will be removed and it'll also give him a more dynamic overall look.

The team colour seems to just be slapped onto his body, it just doesn't really look natural even if it's supposed to be clothing.

What could also work to remove the rat-likeness some more is to edit the mouth. Right now it looks as if his two frontal teewth are sticking out, like those of rodents do.

It's a good improvement nonetheless.

He doesn't quite fit in a hex (it's his dang left arm again), and he's lost a lot of detail. His shoulder thingies need repositioning too.

I do like how you've changed his facing, but i don't really see a reason to switch to this new one yet. If you add in highlights/shading to finish him up and redo the shoulder thingies, then switching would be a good idea.

I did the original btw.

The blond hair on the therians was bugging me, so i changed all blonds to brunettes and changed their skin tone to match the monk line. Now they look more tribal. I also messed around with the therian defender to get rid of that butt-ugly helmet.

I didn't touch any of the old old sprites. I hope this is useful.

Sorry for not being around much, it's been a distracting holiday for me and I havn't been at home like I thought I would be. I've got to say, that I realy appreciate these. The way the therian art had been going had bothered me, but of course I didn't have the skills to fix it myself. I'll try to get around to adding these when I get back home, and when I try to get EoM updated to 1.5.

It would be nice if you could provide a animal form for the cat too. The one we have now, does not realy look like the right kind of cat.

Well i did try and make an animal form for the cat but i'm not entirely happy with it. I was going to keep in in my own art thread until i improved it to my satisfaction. Here it is anyways.

Edit: Also edited the defender again to help differentiate from the lvl 1. Just the hair.

Extended Era Sprites

Post by Ryorin »

Okay, first on the chopping block is the new Mystic.

Fist off, shadows are ALOT harder to do than I remember, it took me seventy tries to get it right. And even then I think I did it wrong.

Secondly, I want some imput, all I really did was change the stance and add a cape, I want some suggestions as to what else to add to the level ups on this unit.

Thanks for the imput ahead of time guys!
