easier add-on management
Greetings fellow wesnothians!
i thought about some improvements for downloading add-ons:
problem 1: if you go to the add-on server and browse the various add-ons ... you dont really know if you already have downloaded that mappack or era.
problem2: in multiplayergames it is sometimes very tedious to get a game started, as very often one pr more players dont have the appropriate eras....
to make it a bit more convenient i suggest:
on the add on server:
make 3 new collumns:
installed latest version your version
to make it even more convenient: maybe color coded
green: era or maps you already have installed and you have the latest version of it
yellow: era or maps you already have installed however a newer version is available.
red: era or map which is not installed.
extended era your version: 1.2 newest: 1.2
Galactic Empires 0.2 0.8 newer version available
Mystic era not installed
maybe also an option which enables your to update all installed add-ons when you go to add-on server.
well i dont have an idea how complicated that would be to do,
also i can imagine that there are more important things to work on .
it would make it easier to know which eras you have installed
and determine if they are outdated.
maybe also in the multiplayer lobby it should show the version number of an era
and not just the name.
oh well that s it .
have fun

Re: easier add-on management
The add-on server interface is in the process of a major revamp. It would probably be worth you waiting to see the new one =)

It'll be worked on when it'll be worked on. All useful ideas are known already. Thanks anyway. Locked to prevent unnecessary noise of everyone agreeing.
