How to play an add-on era?

Post by Pedrao »

Sorry if someone already asked this but the search engine made me get lost on the forums (quite a few times).
I have downladed some add-ons like the extended era ( and some others)
the campaigns work just fine but I cant seem to use the new eras/factions, I wonder if anyone could help me with that?
thanks in advance

by the way, I am using the version 1.4.5 on a windows XP

The user made eras are for use in the multiplayer maps, though there are UMC (User Made Campaigns) that draw from the add-on eras.

You select the era when you set up the multiplayer game, in the little tab on the left side. It should say default, and you can open it up and pick one of the eras that you downloaded.

Not a problem. :)

Did that solve your problem when you found those, or are there a few eras you downloaded that you can't seem to find to play?

Have you tried this?

@ Longbow: actualy, that is kind of obvious but thank you very much for your help (yeah, I tried it )

the real problem is : I can't use any user-made/add-on era, just the campaigns(wich are really good) but I wanted to play online with some friends and the original eras are starting to bore me a little (especially when I try agains one of my game addicted friends)

Hmm, well, what does show up in the add-on server when you bring it up? That big long list of downloads, or are you only getting a handful?

Try downloading the Extended MP Era, Era of Myths, or the Imperial Era.

Those are some of the most frequently downloaded, and should work on your computer. Do as Longbow says and restart wesnoth if they don't show up. If you still have a problem, you might want to reinstall the game.

offtopic: sry for the signature,(fixed it now)

but now regarding the add-on eras, the first ones I tried to download were those and they still don't work, I tried most of the add-on eras avaiable actualy, and none of them even appears as a possible opion on the multiplayer (not even on localgame)

Well, thank you all for your help

I had to reinstall it (after making a backup of my saves) and then re-download the eras and campaigns but they work now :D
