Bug?

Post by Almad »

Hi,

this campaign is really something now ;)

However, I encountered a bug: In "An Errand of Hope", when I cross the river and enemies show up, game crashes with "Unknown unit Troll Rcoklobber" (misspelled I guess?)

I downloaded new update from server and loaded new game, so perhaps it's fixed and I just must play campaign again...?

Our nice trained units are coming back? Woohoo no more experience debug moding :D

Anyway I'm actually just about to head off and do a play through of the scenario, I was checking for a new release first (your pretty fast on those!). This is by far my favourite scenario so keep up the good work.

Are you asking for it or have you heard of it? Eventually there will be at least 3 campaigns with rain implemented, IFtU, FtF and my campaign. I really see why they don't mainline rain.

Hi all, first time posting. I just wanted to say that I absolutely LOVED this campaign (Invasion from the Unknown) I think it has become my favorite ever. A lot of fun, thank you.

Hi, first of all, congratz i am really enjoying this campaign, ant this carried me to registrate and make my first post.

But well, i have a problem, i can't activate the south glyph in "Source of light". I read all over the posts and did activate the (34,62) hex. But no door opens. Am stuck.

Any help?

shadow_worshipper wrote:awesome campaign! in fact, playing your campaign is the reason i came to these forums, to ask...

will there be an episode 2? i think you kind of implied its possibility, but campaigns look like they'd take a long time to make, so i understand if you don't feel like making a second episode

PS, I've never seen rain in this game before

EDIT: by episode 2 i meant episode 3 >.>
I don't intend to make another long campaign. I started this campaign before ESR's The Hammer of Thursagan was done, thus didn't realize that you can make a hell of a good campaign without being it so long as IftU. Resuming, I plan to start a sequel (we have material for its plot already - not for public knowledge yet though) but it will just not be as long as this campaign.

Because if they did, even I would be against until the graphics engine is optimized enough to perform at good speed in my Intel Pentium 4 (2.96 GHz - 1024 MB RAM - Linux 2.6 custom/X11/openchrome) with rain enabled. I have already removed it from SVN of IftU.

Well, after activating the 34,62 touchplate, did you head to the southmost cave from there and activate the other touchplate at 23,79? After both activations the chamber that contains the glyph at 29,67 should open (it did work for me in that release IIRC).

Sorry, that is version 1.9.0 in the campaign server. I forgot to update the version text when uploading it.

Version 1.9.1a is out!

Get the external package: http://shadowm.nfshost.com/wesnoth-UMC/ ... 1a.tar.bz2 (10.6 MB)
Campaign server package not uploaded yet.

This one is mainly a polishing release. New sounds, graphics and an additional music track were added, yes; indeed. But that is not the focus of it. While ESR was busy revising the text for the campaign, I got enough spare time to revise many of my own artwork (and a few external ones) and WML. In fact, the most significant revision is the new fifteenth scenario, "Shadows of Time", which came to replace the long-ago-deprecated "Dealing with Orcs". Both the removal and creation of such deprecated scenario left a huge gap in the story line that "Shadows of Time" has come to fix up. And to be honest, at last I have come up with a sequel concept, revealed henceforth at the last scenario of this campaign.

Some terrains and decorations were updated too, but the changes are not very noticeable for the regular player - the real action took place under the hood, optimizing and fixing some terrain-graphics WML. Note however, that the changes invalidate current saved games that have a map_data associated; in other words, it is recommended to reload from the last start-of-scenario (not first turn) saved game if you see any "unknown terrain" error messages.

As per players' request, the recall list is no longer discarded when continuing to Episode II from Episode I only. When starting the stand-alone episode II from the campaigns menu you'll still be left with default units and gold, however - sorry, but anyway I think I balanced scenario 14 and a few later to make sure it is still well playable.

To note, however: your gold is not completely carried over from Episode I - see changelog for details.

I started additional balancing of scenarios to comply with other player requests too.

Some minor scenario balancing issues and/or bugs were fixed too. The Aragwaith faction units' animation WML was refactored to fix many glitches left from Extended Era; the code should be more human-readable and easier to maintain too. I wonder if the EE people would like me to port them there too.

Special thanks to Syntax_Error and Mesilliac for terrain tiles and other stuff. Now go to download and have fun!

Note: last version released through the campaign server was labeled "1.0.13" in the remote add-ons menu, but it was 1.9.0 actually. This time the new release is labeled 1.9.1.

Note 2: although many of you may be thinking that I'm gonna release version 2.0 after a few further releases, truth is that I shall not. I completely despise major version number changes after 1.0 in open source software in cases it does not deserve it; i.e. actually worth cases would be a major code base rewriting, like it has happened with KDE, GTK or Linux kernel during the time. For this particular case, I'll keep numbering releases 1.9.2 to 1.49.999 for the Wesnoth 1.4-compatible branch of this campaign, and reserve 1.50.0-1.99.999 for the Wesnoth 1.5-compatible one.

Note 3: I could not upload to the campaign server because of bandwidth issues from the server side, it seems. Therefore I PM'd Mythological with the link to external tarball so that he can upload it there when he has time to do it. For the time being, you can use the same external package. The older version was removed from the campaign server to avoid confusion and more outdated bug reports.

This is what baffles me... why can't you upload IFtU to the server yourself?

Because the campaign server hates me and will disconnect after 85% of the upload complete.

edit: on default difficulty, bfw 1.4.1 and IftU 1.9.1a

That's quite unfortunate for you Shadow Master; I hope the campaign server will someday not hate you.

BTW can I use your avatar in my campaign (it may seem silly but I kinda need it for a sprite...)?
