Sure. Here's my opinion: APRIL FOOL!!! Realize that! That was great, though, I'll give you that! That sounded true for a bit and then... "happy april fool" duh. We can't wait for Halloween for the next joke!

I should have read this thread earlier - great fun! When I read the announcment I considered it slightly overdone. A few lines into the text it was obvious that this was the "official" joke for this year. But that so many people actually considered it to be true...

Still, a joke in very poor taste, and I found ajf's comments particularly insulting. Where I am, this wasn't even posted on April First. It was posted a day earlier, on March 31st. I suppose it might be ethnocentric of me to expect others to do their homework on other cultures, but still, that's no excuse for not trying to be more understanding of others.

I apologize if I did insult you. My point was more that even if you do not know anything of April Fools Day (i did not think of it myself when first reading the news), I find it hard to imagine that anybody could take this seriously. So independently of any cultural backgrounds of the readers I would not have expected that anybody really believed that.

Wow, this was an amazing joke, as much due to the reaction as anything else. Honestly, how can you claim to have been scared by it? Not only could this not happen, if it did the project would have been forked in a second.
