Well even if my icons aren't good. What about my buttons?

Re: Wesnoth-Like icons for the Forums
Scroll with a grey band; I supposed for read topics, or possibly locked unread. I'm not entirely sure how one "locks" a scroll. Comes with and without trailing ribbon; take your pick ^^;
Aeth, well, I have no idea ^^; I'll try making an open scroll and we'll see how it goes.
Prophet, your buttons look nice, but I'm not sure how'd they look against the very light forum colors; Wesnoth buttons are designed to go on that dark grey color, so they might look too dark... who knows.
I'm thinking of making a sort of nailed-up notice kind of thing for stickies and announcements; what do you guys think of that?

Hmm, what do you think about :
Read forum - open tome
Unread forum - closed tome
Locked forum - chained tome (we don't have any yet but who knows
)
Unread topic - done already
Read topic - opened scroll
Locked (unread/read) topic - as above but black
Announcments/stickies - a plank of wood?
And if you pull it off to the end I'll make you that megane again

I had a thought, I think I'll keep using the red ribbon to indicate new posts, as it sort of stands out, and would have a clear meaning.
Also, by an "open scroll," do you mean unrolled, like these are, or just lacking the band, as though one had removed it in order to read the contents?
Edit: locked scroll

These two are perfect for read topics and I'll use them for that if you don't mind

Perhaps the nails more visible on the sticky/announcement threads...
For locked thread, it could be chained for locked unread and have a padlock symbol on an open scroll for locked read.
Don't forget that there's some out there not at the bottom key:
is for read, locked, and announced threads and they're in the Ideas forum...

I think the notice.gif
is a bit to unobtrusive how about giving it a seal at the bottom or something. Like that it would look more like an anouncement.

Re: Wesnoth-Like icons for the Forums
OK, too many things to attach, so I'll have to start zipping them. This has unread, read, locked + read, and locked + unread versions for normal topics, stickies, and announces. Unread have red ribbons, locked are black. Nails are bigger and announces have seals.

Okay, above uploaded. Only thing left that's needed is for read/unread/locked forum (to repeat the suggestion - something like an old tome should do the trick)

Re: Wesnoth-Like icons for the Forums
Well, Prophet provided a tome for the forum, which seems reasonable.
I'll go ahead and edit it into read, unread, and locked versions, unless you feel I need to draw a new one.

Re: Wesnoth-Like icons for the Forums
Well, your icons look really nice but i'm a bit irretated by the scroll for unread and read topics. They look to different in my opinion. Maybe it would allready be enough to remove the ribbon in read topics or only unroll a pice of the scroll so the scroll is not unrolled complete. Do you know what i mean? They should be more related to each other.
@Mist: You should take away the width and height attributes from the image tags within the forum table. Because of those the images are resized by the browser and browser scaling is ugly and not wanted in this case!

And part 2.
Edit, @Prophet: I dunno, it's up to Mist. Here are the scrolls without ribbons, if they're needed.

Re: Wesnoth-Like icons for the Forums
They look good enough for me, one might probably argue but the basic distinction between read and unread is clearly visible. And that's enough.Prophet wrote:Well, your icons look really nice but i'm a bit irretated by the scroll for unread and read topics. They look to different in my opinion. No. Even if you meant 'add' dimenision attributes to images within forum cells. Icons within cells are not scaled, they are normal size when smaller than cell or cut when larger. And cell sizes have to have set dimensions to keep the forum table coherent.Prophet wrote: @Mist: You should take away the width and height attributes from the image tags within the forum table.
