Remember "random" in MP games
For an observer it would be cool, to see what the players had choosen at the start of the game. Atm if you picked random, observers will only see the result after game has started. So interpreting the start of a MP game with fog aint posible, without asking the players.
Re: Remember "random" in MP games
Explain why observers should get information before players? Observers can wait the whole (max) 5 minutes it takes for the first turn to complete and still have more information than the players. And what is "remember 'random'" supposed to mean?nnn wrote:For an observer it would be cool, to see what the players had choosen at the start of the game. Perhaps its time to spend more time thinking of good ideas and presenting them properly rather than spamming the ideas forum every ten minutes. Also reading the forum rules and doing the proper research before each post (to see if your impulsive ideas have been proposed before) would be appreciated.
Re: Remember "random" in MP games
Sorry but you got that totaly wrong! But after i read what i have posted, I realised that I totaly failed in explaining what I ment.
So I will try to explain more detailed:
If a MP game has started, and an observer joins the game, he can see what leader/fraction the players got. But he can't see if they had choosen this, or if they had choosen "random". My Idea now is based on the asumption, that if a player has NOT choosen random, an oposing team knows what their oponents are. This is for sure a totaly different starting position if fog comes into play.
Imagine a saved replay: For me this replay is just incomplete if you cant understand why a player recruited some special units in his/her 1st turn. So there are two posible ways to solve that:
- don't let other team see what a player choose in advance.
- save the infomation that was given to the oposing teams, to make a replay complete
So i just suggest to make it posible to see what the player's choice was, so that a player from an oposing team (or an observer) will see that the enemie was "random" or whatever else.
PS:
I hoped that i was not just spamming the ideas forum and this usefull in some way.

Re: Remember "random" in MP games
That's how exactly I thought when originally reading your opening post.
Hm...
If such an option was to be implemented, it's best in my opinion by using the "status table" screen (I'm not sure if it's the correct description), the one opened by pressing (on my Mac) option+s. There, as all players are visible (especially for observers depending on the particular turn), maybe we can have a [(faction)] tag beside the players' name. Sorta like:
anakayub (Random) [then all of the other stats]
nnn (Loyalists) [then all other stats]
I find the suggestion a nice one for observers as you said. If the devs like it too I think they might code it.

Take a breath.
