Improvements for user interface and game control

Post by Prophet »

Hi,

here some improvments that i would suggest to be implemented for a nicer gameplay and usability.
  • I have noticed that when ever some action takes place within the game the complete UI (e.g. buttons) is blocked until that action is finished completly. Is it possible to decouple the UI from the game flow? Like that it would be possible to open the main menu while the computer is moving or a fight is running.
  • It should be possible to select multiple items in specific lists (e.g. Extension installation/deinstallation) so you don't have to open the dialog multiple times.
  • I think it would be nice if a double click on a castle hex's (when possesed by the player) automatically opens the unit creation dialog. I expect this is the most often used action on castle hex's that are possesed by the player.
  • [EDIT] Don't show extension that are allready installed (or mark them as installed). Provide a "Update Extensions" button that installs the newest version of allready installed extensions (maybe even a autoupdate function?).

And this gives me another idea: Use something like this in recruiting/recalling. Maybe, even, with drag-and-drop. E.g., we have a castle on the left side, we open recall window on the right, and we drag required units to appropriate tiles of the castle.

I know/can imagine that some of the points i mentioned are of non trivial nature and difficult to implement, but it would be nice if the developers / project leaders would say what they think of the suggestions and if they are accepted as future features. All of the points don't touch gameplay and just improve the usability, so i don't see any reasons that speaks against future implementation. I'm sorry if these improvments were allready mentioned in previous topics, but i could not find any topics containing them.

1) sounds like a good idea to me. It's kind of irritating how to interrupt the AI's turn you have to time your click on the menu icon just right..
For I am Turin Turambar - Master of Doom, by doom mastered. On permanent Wesbreak. Will not respond to private messages. Sorry!
And I hate stupid people.
