Ladder for teams
I'm to tired to search if this has been proposed already, and if it has, feel free to lock this and reference me over to that topic. Anyway, would this be possible? Use the same ladder system, except people join teams (clans, for lack of a better word), then two "clans" fight eachother (whenever at least 4 members battle, whenever they want) and two members from each "clan" fight each other. I don't know if this sounds confusing to you, its late
If anyone has any better ideas, then by all means post about them here.

Re: Ladder for teams
I'm not quite sure what you mean by this, because there isn't a ladder system in BfW. There's nothing stopping people from having clan wars though. One can simply use pen and paper to tally up the results of each match.Dveman115 wrote:Use the same ladder system
So to answer your question:
Yes. Tedious, but it's not impossible.Dveman115 wrote:Anyway, would this be possible?
Edit: Whoops, I forgot that there was a MP ladder stickied on the MP forum. One could do something similar, but with the "team system" that you mentioned. Again, it's not impossible, but it'll take some work to get it organized. Kudos to Eyerogue and co. for making their ladder system work.

Re: Ladder for teams
I don't know if you're referring to the ladder I host. If you do, then it has nothing with the Wesnoth dev. team to do, and the thread is misplaced and will probably be moved / locked, if not, disregard whatever I write.Dveman115 wrote:I'm to tired to search if this has been proposed already, and if it has, feel free to lock this and reference me over to that topic. There have been at least 2-3 players wanting a 2vs2 ladder, asking me to put it online. This is discussed, somewhat off topic, in the ladder thread. In it explain my view on it and also some of the problems. Please read it and leave your reply in it if you have some creative solution.
Lastly, whatever code I've used is either open sourced or written by me or others from in here, which also translates to open sourced since that's the only way we work. With other words, if you don' t agree with what I suggest in the thread I can give you everything you need to setup a 2vs2 ladder of your own, even if I strongly oppose branching... especially since we still haven't released the save game parser yet.
You're right. This issue is as old as the game, or, at least it feels like it. It has been stated a million times that the dev team, in general, oppose the rating of players because, among other things, they don't want a specific climate among players and don't envision the game going into that direction.I don't think the Multiplayer devs want to do anything related to official teams, clans, and profiles. I don't know why, but I'm pretty sure of it.
But I myself like the idea.
