I really like this idea!
It would be perfect if the animation fades away more slowly or leave some dark cloud or something like that.
IMHO this could once go to mainline. (Just my 2 pence as a wesnoth-fan)
The dark sorcerer has his risk by playing with the undead.
If he plays to much, Death is coming to him in person.

I don't see any problems with an elf-woman hitting somebody with a mace...
Hm, thats the way I thought it is.cretin wrote:its supposed to be death coming up behind him right?
Maybe it's also his dark soul that leaves the body, but I like the other idea better

If it should be his soul leaving him, than he shouldn't stand there so cool, he should fall to ground.
He is also watching behind him when Death appears. For me it seems like he is realizing "ups, Death is directly behind me! ARGL..."

that's actually exactly what it's supposed to be.mameluke wrote:Hm, thats the way I thought it is.cretin wrote:its supposed to be death coming up behind him right?

"huh, what's that?"
"OH! $#@%"
I considered putting a frame of maniacal laughter before his shadow turns black. Sort of a "you think you've killed me! ha!" ... then realizing that (s)he has not conquered death after all.
but that would have taken quite a bit of work compared to the rest of the animation... and I wasn't taking it that seriously.
My understanding is that if the frames were put into Wesnoth it would end with the last frame fading white and out... Otherwise I would have done something like have him drug into the black pit his shadow became or something.mameluke wrote:I really like this idea!

Thanks for the complements guys.

Isn't there a problem with the last frame ? It seems like some white pixels appears on the cloak of the "Reaper". Each time I see this frame it makes me think of balls in a Christmas tree
Other than that, you must be an alien performing enternaining arts to suck our brains, I can't help watching that hypnotic animation again and again !

Don't trust me, I'm just average player.

I think it's something about how I converted it to a gif. In the png frames death fades out over a couple frames... the gif doesn't seem to recognize the transparency.krotop wrote:Isn't there a problem with the last frame ? .gif only stores 1 bit worth of transparency: a pixel is either completely opaque or completely transparent. Thus, when you convert from .png (with a full 2 byte alpha channel) to .gif, anything over %50 transparency is invisible, anything under is opaque. This is why, for example, the shadows you see in .gif animations often look so terrible.
