Define what you mean by "uncopyrighted", if there's no notice, that doesn't necessarily mean you can use it.

Definitely make sure that it's royalty-free music. And be sure to credit the maker. In fact, it would be a good idea anyway to contact the author of the music, just to get his/her okay. They'd appreciate it, I'm sure.

If you want to use somebody else's music in the game, you need to make sure you not only have the copyright holder's permission to use the music, but you also have the copyright holder's permission to place the music under GPL - this means anyone can take the music from your campaign and use it for something else, and it is possible (though unlikely) that it will used for profit.

If you can't get the copyright holder to agree to this, you won't be able to put the music on the Wesnoth server. (Or, you can, but you could get yourself into a lot of trouble by doing so.) There are ways around this, but it unfortunately none of these ways involve using the official campaign server.

*smacks head* Yeah, that's true, you should ask him about GPL.

He didn't mention gpl specifically, but I think this is good enough.

Hmm...perhaps. The thing about GPL, though, is that it implies that derivative works may be made of the work. In other words, if you lease something under a GPL, you not only grant permission to anybody to use that music, but you also grant permission to anyone who finds that music to alter and use and distribute that music, and so on.
