Possible login problem

Post by Ancalagon »

I'm new, so I'm not entirely sure about whether there's a problem, but I think there is. When I tried to modify the campaign guide for The South Guard, which I have just completed, it told me I had to login. It then refused my login details numerous times, stating that Ancalagon (me) is not a user. Possibly there is some kind of problem with the login system, or possibly I have made a stupid mistake, such as trying to edit something that I do not have the ability to edit. I had problems creating an account previously, so the fault may be with my computers. Would somebody explain to me, please?

In addition:

1.Thank you for creating such an excellent game and for providing much helpful advice.

2. Hi!

you must have a separate wiki account. just because you have a forum account does not automatically give you a wiki account

There is a box at the bottom of the editing page which says "Summary:". I take it I am supposed to state what I did, yes?

I had this problem when first signing up for the Wiki too. Took me like 2130948 tries.

I asked it to send it to my e-mail, which it didn't til much later, when the code had already expired.

And by 2130948 I mean 4.

Yup. This is a standard MediaWiki feature, more necessary in tracking a behemoth like Wikipedia than a little wiki like ours. If I'm making a thematically linked change (eg. adding a new unit line for my faction) I'll note that in the summary. But if I'm doing a series of unrelated nips and tucks I'll often put in something like "tweaks" or just leave it blank.

It's most valuable on shared pages, but it doesn't hurt to get into the habit editing your own.
