Wesnoth on a PS3

Post by Drake Clasher »

well, first off, I'm not sure if this goes here or here If I'm wrong, I'm sorry, and please move it.

Well, I just got a PS3 for an early Christmas present, and I was wondering: How do I get wesnoth on my PS3? It is possible, and i do have it hooked up to the internet. should I:

1) Go to the main page and select download?

if so, what do I click after that

2) put a flash drive into my computer and get wesnoth onto it, then put that on the PS3

3)something blatantly obvious that i'm missing

Thanks in advance :D

Uh, I don't think Wesnoth works on consoles. With the exception of April Fools tricks, that is. So, no, it isn't possible at the present time.

Although I don't think it ever will be, I don't know for sure. Maybe a dev will buy a PS3 and make Wesnoth run on it. Personally, I don't think consoles are well suited to Wesnoth, and most console gamers would see Wesnoth's graphics as sucky, and as a result wouldn't play it.

1) Install Linux on your PS3
2) Use a package manager or compile Wesnoth for your new Linux System
3)??????
4)PROFIT!

Wesnoth really should be convertable. They did StarCraft on N64, and Wesnoth has even fewer control demands than that game.

They also had a team of programmers paid to do exactly that and nothing but that.

*Convertible* would be require it be entirely re-written like 23 times.
PS3 though can do linux, and wesnoth already does that so its doable.
Let us all measure in milliyards, that way we can all get along.

Actually, it's Warsong. Dave indicates that Warsong was an influence in the creation of Wesnoth. (As was Master of Monsters)

warsong 2 or der langrisser is same game that i really like them
that's why i really like wesnoth too.

differ from warsong and this game is this game has no range attack(i really mean range) and no AOE magic but still ok

I recall that there was once a topic asking if it was possible to compile Wesnoth on the Dreamcast. The answer there, as I recall was that since there were SDL libraries available for the system, theoretically it should be but the console limitations would probably require the entire game to be rewritten to optimize code. 'cause you know, the Dreamcast, like most home consoles isn't quite as powerful as the typical P.C. Soo I'm leaning towards no. I'll edit this post with a link to the topic later

The PS3 is super, super powerful in comparison since it's two generations ahead so perhaps that wouldn't be a problem. Also as I recall, the purpose of Linux for PS2 was to help independent developers get a feel for developing PS2 games. If the PS3 has a similar linux setup as described in this thread, I doubt the vision behind it has changed.... So it might be possible, if you can get your hands on the proper development tools. I dunno really since I don't compile stuff. Especially not for systems I don't have.

I do know it is possible for an Adept to survive an Ulfserker's Berserker Rage though but that's entirely off topic. :P

If it is a strong, resilient adept on a castle square, and the Ulfserker is slowed, it even becomes slightly possible.
If you had a custom terrain with a 90% defense rate, it would be even more possible.
Don't go to Glowing Fish for advice, he will say both yes and no.

It is theoretically possible for any unit to survive any attack by any other unitp, given that berserk tops out at 30 rounds to avoid potential combats which go on for ever. You'd just have to get a MASSIVE deviation from EV on all of the berserker's attacks...
