Wesnoth 0.8 released

Post by miyo »

Elen síla lúmenn' omentielmo.

Drake unit balancing, Drake flying animations, new unit: Drake Slasher. Added Drakes to 'Age of Heroes' era. Balanced 'Battle for Weslin Bridge' multiplayer map. Updated french, hungarian, italian and slovak translations. Added czech translation. Fixed graphic glitches on forest and cave tiles, fixed some name typos in Tutorial, fixed editor theme - see all details at http://changelog.wesnoth.org

0.8 is the new "stable" release (please do remember that Wesnoth is still in development)

We have switched hosting downloads at SourceForge:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... z?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... g?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... e?download

wesnoth-lite should be fully working Wesnoth, it just lacks music and story images (making it smaller and therefore faster to download):

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... z?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

devsrv.wesnoth.org is running 0.8 and can be used for multiplayer games. Updating server.wesnoth.org to run 0.8 can take few days.

Instructions for bug reporting can be found - http://wesnoth.slack.it/?ReportingBugs

Debian GNU/Linux, Mandrakelinux, Mac OS X, BeOS packagers have been informed.

Namárië,

Seems SourceForge is having troubles with their mirrors... patience is a virtue.

Can't reproduce. Could you provide more informations? When does it happen, complete error message, does it make wesnoth abort, etc.

Static Linux binary

TuxVader,

assuming that such a thing is easily produced, how would you most like it packaged?

These downloads don't work. I always get the message

"the mirror you've selected, (whatever it was) does not currently have the file you requested. (This is an error on our part which will be fixed).
You are requesting file: /wesnoth/Wesnoth_MacOSX_0.8.dmg
Please select a mirror"
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

Check out this thread....

Someone was able to successfully make a static binary for linux, and it seemed to work well. As to how to best package it, it would probably be best to package the binary with the data-files + an install script.

Right. Me too.. exactly the same as what I described in a topic I made on the tech forum, on downloading 0.7.11.

That's odd. I downloaded 0.7.11 just fine.

I did it too. It took 3 minutes for me to download it. Anyway, why isn't this in the wiki page?

I can't download the windows version.
Your download should begin shortly. If it does not, try
http://aleron.dl.sourceforge.net/source ... ws-0.8.exe
or choose a different mirror

You are using mirror:
(INSERT LARGE GRAPHIC HERE)
It will happily link to itself ten times without doing naything, and I've tried changing mirrors...
