I need help from a mac user(Not enough replies!!!!!!!)
how do I make changes to my cfg file ,whenever I open it and make changes with the text editor, I'm unable to save the file, it says "couldn't save document as "abilities.cfg" in folder " data""
WHOEVER READS THIS, PLEASE GIVE A REPLY
I'm using mac os x.please tell me the correct procedure of modifying the "abilities.cfg" file on Mac OS X the correct way,at least give some advice or methods of doing so
and what Damgard said still did not help at all, so, can anybody tell me other methods to access those file, whenever I access those file through the wesnoth content, they can't be modified AKA files I access from the game content CAN'T BE MODIFIED( the computer must have a grudge against me) but when I access the campaign files through the library/preference/wesnoth they can be modified, problem is, files like the "unit.cfg" and "abilities.cfg" can't be found in there, so is there another way to access those files like "unit.cfg" or "abilities.cfg" to modify them?
I NEED MORE REPLIES ON DOING SO, SO FAR THERE IS ONLY ONE REPLY AND IT IS NOT HELPING AT ALL!!!!!!!!
I have already notice why I'm unable to do so as the files that game is installed in "wesnoth_MACOSX_1.2.8a.d mg" does not allow any modification to any of it's files stored in it so I removed the wesnoth game file "wesnoth 1.2.8" (which is where we mac users click to launch the game) and drag into the desktop so that I can modify the game and it works

Please, supply some additional info, like:
1) What OS are you using (Windows, Linux...)
2) Do you open file in the game/data/ folder or in the userdata/data/
And for some first clues:
a) Make sure, that you do not have opened the file in some other program (like having Wesnoth running while editing, or opened in another editor)
b) Check the properties of the file before you click it for open, esspecially, if you have the write privilege to the file
#if OS=Linux
c) Did you not edit the file before while logged as another user or as root by $su or $sudo?
#elseif OS=Windows
c) Did you try complete computer restart before another attempt to edit the file
?
#endif
